asia makes products for America, designed by Americans, but we never get paid, just used
,and its not just motorcycles, and germany did it and still does, all countries do , just somethings are built to last
guess it depends on who's in charge of screwing America, even our govmnt does it to us, its a dog eat dog world, so it keeps getting worse , yea the creed song is getting a lil old toby , but nice video still, get some vid on the 700-720 if you can
Maddness! Great looking bike like a bunch of others you've kept alive! Keep up the good work. I missed the look the "banana" swingarm had. cool lines, but weren't nessessary, with the single shock version, seat height could be maintained with lickage. the gull wing triples were cool too, Pioneers in the industry!
Great bike but the YZ 465 was a way better bike, even Danny Chandler
could not compete on the Maico. While it was notable the brands best days were far behind, The suspension alone in the rear was dated and failed frequently, the bing
carb was highly suspect, and the gearbox was one of the worst ever,
All the jap bikes were better in 83, the last years of a dominant was 74.
Must admit they were quite popular only due to the handling, but absolutely no way they could live with even a 250 by 1979. A lot of amatuers bought them due to them being easy to ride quite well.
Round certain sandy whoopy tracks usually came in 2nd behind a 250 but using a 125! So much so for handling and international riders on 490 Maicos and Yz.
1980 YZ490 had 49 ponies standard KX250 40hp easilly tuned way above 50hp and manageable.
Great video man, usually i like to hear the bikes roar in the video but, this songs goes well with how u made ur vid! makes me want to smoke a joint and rip around in the boonies for a bit! Just get lost n try to find ur way back out! Fucking dont care what bike u own, just as long as ur enjoying urself and getting out of the hectic city! Tho i own i a 81 honda Cr250 n'd im not complain, the roar drowns out my gf's roar so im happy! :P
how did they produce a "pale copy of the powerband" it isnt an item, therefore cannot be reproduced, yamaha's 2 strokes have been phenominal for many many years, especially with YPVS, my dads rd350lc 1985 produced 78bhp at the rear wheel with no powervalve. you tell me that isnt power.
Excellent video by the way.....the germans had the 2 stroke market sewn up before they defected from east germany and where chased by the the japanese in the early 60s.
Hahahahaha rd350lc 78hp @ rear wheel ...dont make me fucking laugh race bred tz350 yamaha's didn't even make that so you are talking utter shite.
1985 rd 350 lc ????
the 350 lc was fazed out in 83 you may find a 84 'A' reg lc that was registered late.
i beg your pardon, spoke to my dad its a 82, it did not have the ypvs, it had a pair of micron power pipes and was proffesionally tuned to 78rwhp by stan stephens perfomance tuning. it was near enough un-ridable but believe it or not it produced 78brake. you dont believe then thats your choice, a 2 stroke will produce phenominal power when correctly tuned.
@buzzender Dude, different kind of power! an RD350 is a twin cylinder, quick revving engine, sure they make power, but they have zip for torque. Yammie still makes that same engine, it's what powers a banshee! only a bit bigger. they even made them air cool way back when... you said with no power valve? YPVS = Yamaha power valve system. they did put "boost bottles" on them however. Silly kid! Your Dad was High in '82
One man is the national champion for diving and he does a perfect back flip but adds his own special twist to it. Hes straight, legs and arms tucked in and lands perfectly perpendicular to the water.
A second man attempts to do the same thing but its not as good as the first, not as perfect. His legs are out and hes kind of to the side. He lands at a 97 degree angle to the water.
How did he attempt to copy the other guys jump it if its not an item?
Maicos are awesome but for reliabilitys sake I will stick with my 1974 can-am(which outruns alot of the other 250's from that same era). Helps me get wholeshots.
In 1977 they made a 400 and a 440 as the big bores. 1975 was the last year for the Maico 501 and Maico did not have a near 500cc until 1981 when they bored the 440 to a 490
The 1981 and 1982 490s were typically piston port engines, at least in the US. There were limited Reed Valve heads that were sent out to other places than the US (although some are in the US as well) and also people have modified the heads to add a reed valve. Majority are piston ports though.
The 1983 was the first one to only come only with reed valve.
I rode a 490 when I was about 12, couldn't touch floor so someone put it in gear for me to set off - monster, although I was so scared I was out paced by a dt125lc with a good rider!
@tobyeo Piston port power, that's why they lug to 700rpm when riding. they will pull stumps out of the ground, like you said "without using the clutch" they will crawl! Reed valves came into being soley for HP, giving more direct flow to the combustion chamber. They still had transfer ports, to lube the bottom end mostly
FUCK YOU

@wrenchinremo I understand that, just saying.
and yes, no powervalve, i know what YPVS stands for, are you aware they produce an RD350lc and an RD350lc ypvs? the original had no powervalve..

i see your point, i suppose the first japanese two strokes still had fine tuning to be done, porting wise, expansion chambers etc...

The AMA and FIM said 2 strokes WOULD race CC for CC in 2010 with the PRO's
Japan this week 10/09 said that if anybody arrives? at a pro event with a 2 stroke they will pull all their bikes from the event!
Anybody=Privateer or any other brand
AMA gave Japan what they wanted
Japan wont allow any factory rider to ride a 2T anywhere other than FMX or at home
Nervous or something
POST THIS EVERY WHERE - MAKE NOISE AND BE HEARD
2T FTW
