  • Nice tribute to a great driver. The #8 Tyrell is Jackie Stewart. The #2 Javelin is in the 1972 colors, not the 1971 that Peter drove.

  • @lfulhorst Thanks for the corrections.

  • A friend of mine, in the plastics business, took the full page obit out of Autoweek, sealed it and framed it for me and it hung in my room for many. many years. i know I still have that...do you have it? If not would you like a copy? Would anyone else like to see it? I can't believe it has been 37 yrs...

There is something about a great driver's eyes like a great quarterback's eyes -weird, but true IMHO. They see more/process more/react quicker...

  • @annmchugh22 I would very much like to see the Autoweek page (I don't have it). Yup, I agree completely about race drivers. In addition to quick reactions and the sense in the seat of their pants as to what a car will or will not do, their eyes see EVERYTHING!

  • Peter Revson was one of my heroes. I interviewed him for the Cleveland Plain Dealer before the race at Mosport. I was all set to go to Indy time trials the next spring and then he was gone! Way too soon. I first noticed hm when he was racing the Javelins, then saw him race Can-Am several times. He was destined for greatness...another gone before his time. Thank you for poting this.

  • @annmchugh22 Thank you for viewing and commenting. Yes, he was gone much too soon. The 60's and early 70's were such dangerous times in racing. The cars became blindingly fast but safety measures of the day were not sufficient to fully protect the drivers. Even great ones were lost. Is your interview available online anywhere? Would love to read it. Thanks, Nik

  • @catalinat22 Unfortunately they never printed it. I was a stringer for the motorsports and I was getting into racing myself about then. He was very gentlemanly, but I got the impression he didn't think much of women racing cars! He did say, when I asked him if he went over the cars to check anything himself, since some of the technology was so new, that he had to trust the mechanic's doing their job and it was his job to go fast and not crash. I might be able to find my notes eventually.

  • @annmchugh22 What a precious memory that interview must be for you. I hope you can find the notes and post your interview and recollections on the internet someday. I am absolutely certain that race fans and Peter Revson fans would be thrilled to read about your one-on-one chat with him. "Go fast and not crash" is great isn't it! Pretty much nails it as the guiding principle that every racer should abide by. Thanks much, Nik

  • Nicely done. Thank-you.

  • @Revstarr1 Thank you for viewing and commenting. Everything I've ever seen or heard indicates that Peter Revson is fondly remembered by friends and race fans and highly respected by his fellow competitors. Surely that is a meaningful legacy. Thanks, Nik

  • Great tribute video !!!!!

    greetings Annie..

  • @annieschonkeren46 Thank you Annie! Race drivers are a unique & special breed. Nik
