@dodobird1991 Slow down there Tex, all I meant is this is in no position to replace an external hard drive at this time. USB 2 and Firewire 800 are far superior but its compromised by having to lug around clunky external peripherals. It would be nice to have an SD Card with speeds comparable to what we could get on other devices. How cool would it be if we could have an entire backup of our hard drive in our pocket.

If it's anything similar to the SD to SDHC adoption, then you will have to get new Digital Cameras, Media Card Readers, etc. if you want to use SDXC. I know it seems like the guy made it seem like it will work with current devices, but I think he might be mistaken. But we'll see when we have a straight answer from the SD Association.

Unless they're about to expand HD video to some insanely higher resolution than 1080p I don't expect this to take off very well with camcorder users. Not in a major way anyway. And plus, it's actually a good idea to unload at some point. Don't know when they plan to drop this on the market but it's almost pointless to do so at this point. A 32gb sdhc would yield about 7 hours or so of 1080p. Now, gamers will probably go gaga over this big time.

He says they are working on geting up to 300MB/s......im sorry genius..current hard drives are at around 3GB/s. So unless you can do 10 times the speed you haven't yet reached, save the BS for at least min of 5-6 years.

Current hard drives are nothing close to 3gb/s buddy haha you're thinking of SATA connections...not at all the same speed of the hdd's themselves. SATA is capable of sending up to 3Gb/s ot your comp, but the hdd's are still at most probably capable of around 200Mb/s. Fastest one I've had is the WD 1Tb Black Edition drive which went up to about 150mb/s. SS drive's might be a little faster, but nothing close to even 1Gb/s yet.
