@rcvideoshooter You make adjustments, but engines out at 500 feet isn't going to slow your momentum much. The planes can glide for miles if they have the altitude.
@haitiano1982 If the MD-80 has a glide ratio of 16:1 (16 ft. forward for every 1 ft. of altitude lost) which is about average for a jetliner, that would give you roughly a mile and a half of distance from an all engines out situation at 500 feet with flaps raised. Your biggest issue would be maintaining electric/hydraulic power, but the the APU could likely manage this.
@m14lover1 Like, oh my gosh, 10kt speed bust, calm down. Also, there's no such thing as (or rather, very, VERY rarely) FL10--unless you are flying in Europe.
@naval8viator true about the speeds, but FL10 being rare is not true. in the USA u can't find it, but in the rest of the world, it's "common" around here in the southern caribbean we see FL30
When the plane was turning right and left prior to the final approach fix was it still on auto or was it flown manually? A view of the pilot flying would make this vid really good
@yeongcf manually, you cannot hear the autopilot disconnect sound neither before tochdown, nor after touchdown, so the A/P must have been disconnected before final approach.
@yeongcf @ 8:51 you hear 2 clicks, that's the yoke-ap disconnect button pressed twice, canceling the autopilot and autopilot disconnect aural warning at the same time.
Coming in at the proper angle is called the glide slope.... watch his altimeter starting at 2:54, and end around 4:24... My calc. say he's decending (for now) at 1733 feet per min.
@handiest1 1733 is way to steep for a landing ,,a plane of this size will land at at a rate of 650-750 feet per min ,,sorry reading again your comment i see you said between 2:54 and 4:24, but you dont have to calculate nothing ,,just look at the vertical speed indicator under the altimeter ,,,you can see how fast he is descending
@LTpadres21 it's called Insel Air. Ive never flown with them, but i reckon those are some of the best routes of any airline: island hopping the caribbean beautiful
hellocan anybody helpme. I want to become a pilot . I was born in venezuela but i live in the u.s. currently and I was wondering IF it was possible to go to school in the u.s. and fly for an airline in latin america. If so what would be the best way thanks lots for any helpful info specially if you are a pilot currently .
P.S. I can afford to go to any school . and whats are some good 4 yr degrees for back up career.
Waooooo, this is one of the best cockpit videos ive ever seen.
Hey i have question for you could you explain me the approach procedure that you guys made?. I mean waypoints, altitudes and stuff like that. I'd really appreciate it if could tell me where i cand find the whole route from beginning the descent 'til landing....
Cause the thing is that every time i fly to Miami internationl in the sim, i don't know what waypoints should i select in fmc

So if you had a bird strike and a double flameout at 500 feet, what would you do to make the runway?

@rcvideoshooter i would ask all the passengers to open their windows and fart out pushing the plane over the finish line
