@RemoEmo123 yes, you're right! it must have said something in the manual, can't remember.( this video was 2 years ago now)..but it's on line anyway. When the springs are in an oil bath they get splashed well, but i was thinking of marzocchi's which have much more oil in the spring sides.
i just bought my bike 40 days ago..and im already feeling some "play" when i hold down on the fork crown and pull up on the handlebars..there is some up and down movement. But no front to back slop. the bike as maybe 10hrs of use and im already experiencing this? and yes, everything is tight, wheel, headset, etc. i've heard the lyriks are known for this..but not sure? any input? thanks
@dirttrackin280h you should have some sag on the fork for optimum performance, normally 25/30 % so if you have that , just ride and enjoy! If you have more, get a harder spring, if it's less, get a softer one.
@dirttrackin280h I've never had to do that as the bushings have always been ok. Are you sure they are worn and need doing?
Normally you tap them out with a slide hammer so I'd give it to rockshox to do, unless you have a lathe to turn up a correctly sized soft drift to put the new ones in..
@jools182 I can't remember! but the video sets out what's required. You don;t need to grease the spring as it's lubed by the oil splashing around. Hope this helps
@jools182 replace the seals at the top. you don't normally need to replace te bushings inside, unless the anodising has worn off the stanchions. A small wipe of oil is ok on the sliders, shows the fork isn't dry....
not sure of that model, but if travel is reduced, seems like a service is in order as there may be mud or water in them, or oil has leaked out of the cartridge. Worth looking inside them as it costs nothing to take them apart....
one of my mates had this version whilst we were on hols in Morzine...they lasted 2 days before they failed. A shim had snapped inside and we were lucky enough to get a spare one from the bike shop. The mechanic laughed when he heard what fork it was as there are lots of failures with the 2 step. Rockshox gave him a free coil spring upgrade when we got pack to cure the problem.
In order of preference...Marzocchi the best by far( the Italian ones, not the 2008 on taiwan ones ) fox are smooth but wear fairly quickly, Rochshox much better since sram took them over, Manitou ...horrible!
that colour of the oil remind me of ma manitou swingers rebound nob:P
yeah,my z1 rc2 eta 2007(10 years anniversary verison)might be lucky to be the last generation which is made in italy lol!
oh i didnt know fox wear quickly lol!think i will not buy fox then...rockshox i dunno, lot of people here in japan saying rockshox needs more maintainence?im not sure since i saled my boxxer race 2004...
Manitou, yeah, that nixon was rubbish, air seal accident,lol...but rear shox is ok,still can be used i think

Hey you said you greased the spring in your video, did you actually not grease it? I saw an older comment, saying it wasn't necessary.

Do i need any special tools to remove the fork bushings on this fork? Nice vid!

Hi again
So just to clarify I need 112cc of 5 wt oil and 30cc of 15 wt (15cc each side) ?
Also what grease should I use to grease the spring?

What seals should I replace when doing this?
I have noticed a slight bit of oil on my stanchions after a ride, is it just the top seals that need replacing?
