I was playing this for weeks when I got it. Slitherine doesn't sell it in the US so I had to buy a copy from an international distributer in Sweden.

It's hard to lose as either side in this game, as the AI isn't all that good. But I'm a grand strategy WW II fanatic, and as far as I'm concerned this is a great game for the DS. Not really up to the graphic standards of the PSP though.

@DrCruel you must try the pc version and play with axis in a big map to see if you can beat the ai

@emper999 I might do that - if they ever bother to sell the game here in the US. Otherwise I'll simply stick with my old copy of Strategic Command.

What I like about Europe at War DS is its portability. It's a credible strategic WW II game on a handheld. That, in and of itself, has made this one of my favorite handheld games.

Slightly agree there... Making France spam garrisons somehow allows France to persist all the way into 1941 even on higher difficulty settings.

And when playing as Germany, Russia is the only enemy who can even fight you, as Britain and the USA won't use transports unless you play the D-day scenario.

I am not sure how much the new Military History version on the PC has changed from the original though. I'd like to know how different it is from the original which is no longer sold.

@tenchimuyo69 They do, around 1943 or so (even if you started in 1939) the UK and the USA will use transports- at least on the DS version

They never seem to do it for me. Maybe because I was bombing Britain to hell.

But still, America's inactivity even in late game was concerning.

Either way, I still want Slith's ww1 game coming out. They promise a much better AI.

(of course it is probably much easier to program an AI for a war that is as static and slow as the Great War.

Thanks for posting this video as the official one gives practically no notion of what the game screen/play is like.

A few game impressions would have been useful but I may get this anyway as I like the genre.
