Probably said before but they changed the Love Lab screen because the umbrella, "Ai Ai Kasa" (Whatever it is called), Isn't recognized as a symbol for love in the US or Europe I believe as it is in Japan.
Foreigners Reaction: Lol Wat why is that an umbrellahaha stupid game lololol.
Because there are cues in the song. So when she sings a word or phrase three times in a row you have to clap four times and when she says "i suppose" you have to do the taap tap tap flick :)
0:18- And now, I begin to cringe. I love how they implement some of the old characters from the original Rhythm Heaven, like the Night Walk guy hanging off of the stars in The Dazzles. I can imagine the singer for Frog Hop getting a little love from fans, considering that the voice has a novel quality to it, but personally, it's... eh. I pictured more of an Elvis type to sing it, not a Vinnie type. As for the Love Lab change, well, I wouldn't call it stupid, but yeah, not necessary.
they say how to do it in practice mode, when she says yea, yea, yea you clap 4 times in the same rythm and when she says i suppose, you clap 4 time and then slide up :P
I actually like Fan Club and Idol. I first heard them when my friend was playing the game (I haven't played it myself yet) and they got stuck in my head really quickly. I need to listen to the Japanese versions to see where all the hate comes from, but to me they work well and are super catchy (although for some reason I was listening to ripped audio version of them and they sound muuuuuuuch better in game than directly listening to them *shrug*).
Wow, really nice quality video :D I'd only heard that the English dub was horrible, now I know it is..... I went and got the original Japanese game. And it probably is just being use to the songs that makes the dub less than enjoyable :] Would've been nice if they kept the original audio and just translated the menus and that. Also, I agree that the Love Lab change was a bit much, it looks too standard now. Thanks for the eye opener.
I still don't know why they have to change the japanese songs....Just because they think japanese music is not popular?...Wait? Is there an option to change the language?...Oh probably not >_>. But why did they change the "Jaho!" in the frog song but let the old sound at the end? XD Some things just doesn't make sense...
The filesize is 101MB. They could've put the 7 japanese vocal tracks on there and still had room. the music tracks stay the same, remember only vocals need to be included. so about 7 files of 1 person singing. They couldn't fot it? I think If they didnt want to put the money and effort into the singers, WHY THE HECK would they go pay royalties to the jap singers for being in their game, the game NOT marketed to the niche crowd that would like the voice option?
Oh, okay. I thought you meant the actual content of Love Lab was changed.
The title was probably changed because that symbol means nothing to an American. It's an umbrella with two names under it; in Japan, sharing an umbrella is a big romantic deal. Drawing two names under an umbrella is like carving two names into a heart on a tree in America.
Why they didn't do the tree carving thing, I don't know. It's an effective cultural translation.
Two names under an umbrella doesn't usually have much to do with a laboratory either. That it was simlated to be drawn on a chalkboard, however, is. The English title could've had the cupid heart as a chalkboard drawing too, but I guess Nintendo didn't think of that.
Fan Club wasn't all that terrible! The cheesy lyrics goes well with the cutesy gameplay. The singing could have been more lively though. Still, it was cute.
The frogs were my favorite. It was SO much better than the Japanese version, and the lyrics had that 80's touch to them.
Jap vocals destroy it. This one has no feeling to it, none of the energy. The US version could have had good vocals, but people who can actually voice act/ sing great cost money. That last sentence is why localizations usually fail voice wise, they just dont have the budget to get talent. so they got someone from the office to do it.
Yeah... I can totally agree that the girl didn't really put all that much effort into her singing. I just ignore the song mostly since I focus on the cues really.
The Frog Hop was great though, it sort of makes up for the Aidoru dub's effortless singing.
Did they change something in Love Lab? I don't remember since I never paid attention to the game.
The author already totally owned you here, but I have to say, what makes it gay?
Why do you associate that with homosexuality? Because frankly the only thing that could make a game homosexual is if it contained explicit same-sex/same-gender sexual intimacy or erotica.
Unless you would like to substantiate your claim of it being 'gay,' shut up~
Also if you wish to continue to use 'gay' as a derogatory term, you can just remain shut up also.
I think the voices aren't bad, they're better then some other games, but the girl didn't seem very into it, like it was the first take as she read the script, and also the Umbrella change made sense since nobody in the US would get it, Although replacing it with a heart and arrow would have made more sense.
It's as two previous people have said. Mainly a Japanese thing. From my knowledge, it's called a love umbrella, and for a good reason. The only spot I can think of finding it in a English game is Brawl.
Also, I'll say this here, the English voices are bad, as in the selection of the voices. In fact, I'd say they were pretty spot on, However, it was the singing part that makes them suck so much. If only they put in a little more enthusiasm, then people wouldn't hate it so much.
It means they started selling it as soon as they got the game in stock rather then wait until the day Nintendo told them to start selling it, Street dates are when the company assumes every outlet will have it in stock in order to give all the retailers a fair chance, So to break it is to ignore such a reason.
lol, great definition...but that sucks (for me)! I'm living in France right now so I had to order if offline and have it shipped to my house in the US, where from it will then be shipped to me over here! So basically I'm gonna be waiting for a min :-/
& like wonchopmonkeyman said, they probably changed the Love Lab love umbrella because it's a Japanese-only thing & most Americans won't know what it's about.
The Fan Club one sounds absolutely horrible in the English version. It's like they pulled in a random little girl from the street and made her sing these lyrics real fast. I'm so glad I've got the Japanese version.
I guess the Love Lab thing was altered since the whole writing names under umbrellas thing is very much a Japanese thing (since English folk don't right their names vertically)
Is it just me or do the voices sound really separate from the music? They also sound a lot louder than the music, although that might just be the recording. You can barely hear the red frog. The frogs are fine but the female singer is terrible. There's no emotion behind it and she's really flat. Perhaps I just need to get used to it.
I noticed the love lab change ugh, I'm only getting used to the English version

Maybe there should be a Rhythm Heaven Version of Hare Hare Yukai.
I still remember that Sunny day
Magical games that we used to play.
Full of happiness, and togetherness...
I forgot the rest of the English version.

Is it just me or do the voices sound really separate from the music? They also sound a lot louder than the music, although that might just be the recording. You can barely hear the red frog. The frogs are fine but the female singer is terrible. There's no emotion behind it and she's really flat. Perhaps I just need to get used to it.

..are.. are you stupid or something? it says
"Fan Club" right before it starts.
Unless you're talking about something else, not that i'd know, considering your grammar.
