  • I can think of only two words that describe this..HOLY. FUCK.

  • Great and pioneers.

although all their albums are masterpieces, I would highlight "The Eye of Every Storm."

  • Somehow the fact that this version is missing out 5 minutess of awesomeness should actually kill a song .. but still it kicks ass that hard

  • Isso é uma merda

  • I'm moist,

  • If one talks down this band, they don't deserve to breath my air. neurosis is talented. beyond most bands.... if you don't think this is raw, get your ears checked. the level off layers to pick apart with my brain is enough to keep me on the same track for days.

  • is this a short version?

  • @yaco77y yep, single one, the normal version is 9 minutes long, lol

  • one really has no musical understanding at all, if one rates this down...

  • fucking short versions suck big time.

    Song and Band are MASSIVE.

  • this is the straight thing not an ilustrating pop boyband

  • what heaviness are you all speaking of ? More of it you cant compare this with death metal, are you NUTZ people ?! Forget about this bullshit comparing.

  • best band ever- great live too....

  • PERFECT

  • this be the short version.

  • they will allways be best, cause theyre unique...

  • not my type of metal, im in to the heavier shit, but this isnt terrible haha

  • @dmorgan11700 Dude, it doesn't get much heavier than this...

  • @dmorgan11700 youre into heavier shit...

  • @dmorgan11700 dude there is no heavier music than neurosis. because its slower than usual metal doesnt mean its not heavy. i've heard a lot of metal and this is the heaviest metal that i've ever heard honestly. Von tills and scott kellys screaming is epic.

  • @thisis4germany Two words: Dying and Fetus.

  • @InThePiss dying fetus sucks imo. neurosis is the heaviest - period. i mean you cant even understand what these guys from dying fetus are screaming, its just the usual growling. but neurosis... heavy but clear vocals and pronouncation. gotta love em. heaviest shit ever

  • @thisis4germany

    Electric Wizard.

    Much love for Neurosis though.

  • @decapitatethecat

who cares, no other band can match the pure energy of neurosis, maybe Converge.

  • 2:07 Troy Sanders anyone?

  • daaaaaaaaaamn shut the fuck up kids!!! just listen to this epic band who by the way are the pioneers of what they themselves call post metal or progressive metal. this band is awesome so all of you stfu

  • @DeathMetalforever lol one month ago..

  • videos always enhance the song too much for me to realize how horrible it really is..

  • wow your saying this sucks your nuts.. yea man exactly this would sound awesome stonned.. hell yea.. that means it's good.. being stoned is just the next level.. no actually it kind of does suck if you listen to it without the video I see what you mean they need to remake the song with the same rythms and just different sounds..

  • I see where everybody is coming from when they say 'Neurosis is a hard band to get into' or 'Neurosis repeat, therefore they suck'-let me just say that there are people out there(open-minded,maybe) who love this type of music, and likewise people who will never like neurosis whatever they produce. what annoys me is you idiots decide to argue over the internet as to what genre this band is. grow the fuck up and decide whether you like this band or not:P

  • mastodon sucks my ass but through silver in blood was a good piece of music neurosis and tribes of neurot are pretty much visionary a little LSD and it makes more sense to you....

  • their better when your stoned. lol

  • This song makes me want to punch a baby in the face.

  • @Ian666grizzly i've never heard of mastadon, but mastodon is a great band

  • @EpsilonX how can you say mastadon is a great band if youve never heard of them??

  • @Ian666grizzly because there is no such band as mastadon. its mastodon

  • @Ian666grizzly you're a pretty stupid fuck arent you

  • And now Neurosis will perform lyrics for the hard of hearing...

  • This video starts with an ad so I'm not even going to watch it.

  • @TheStrangeRanger

All you have to do is hit refresh you retard

  • First time i heard this band i thought: So this is what music sounds like

  • Whoaa, half of the song is cut out... still amazing. These guys started out in '85... Isis, Mastodon, Ahab, Red Sparrowes, and most of the bands that are undefinable and get lumped into this genre owe neurosis alot. It's funny to hear people's classifications...

  • @doomed7t1 The fact that musical classification has become such a contentious issue for the CultofNeurIsis is even funnier. Every death metal, black metal, and thrash metal band out there wears their classification like a badge (sometimes literally), but a lot of folks take issue with the "post-metal" label for some reason. Post-rock, however, is a well-defined genre with hundreds of bands; Red Sparowes being one of them.

  • I DID NOT like that they have cut the version down ...

  • @JonisCrescendo

right, it's disgusting, each second from the album version is perfect.

  • Neurosis... just an amazing roots of a new king of music.

  • mindwar

  • maybe the awnser is your blindness or your lake of taste

  • @2828539 Your existence is your punishment...

  • @2828539 Since when is music about logic? who the fuck are you? Spock?

  • @2828539

this song is absolutely logical and intense.

  • Owe a lot to these fellows.!

  • you really need to listen to the album version. fucking trip.

  • i like the intensity :) .

and whoa, im sorry, am i actually able to understand the heavy metal scream? CLEARLY? there's DICTION? (not like i mind the other guys of course... their stuff's awesome too). but damn this guy's good.

  • So this is the man who does amazing clean vocals on Crack the Skye?

    Nice.

  • @legendofzelda101 i know right,? such an AMAZING band, damn how I love them!!!!!!!!!!

  • @legendofzelda101 Scott Kelly is the one screaming in the song Crack The Skye. The clean vocals are done by Troy Sanders (of Mastodon).

  • @kraastopher

    Oh, gotcha, thanks.

To me the screams sounded too much like Brent Hinds.

But the clean vocals sound like Brann Dailor, are you sure it's Troy?

  • @legendofzelda101 In the chorus all of them are singing, but Troy in the foreground. Any solo vocals I'm pretty sure are just Troy. Brent Hinds sounds too drugged out haha.

  • @kraastopher the clean vocals on oblivion are done by brann. All others are either Troy or Brent or a combination of the two. Scott Kelly does the verse vocals on the title track of Crack The Skye

  • @mommadeathface scott kicked serious ass on crystal skull too (not to mention neil fallon on blood and thunder)...but crack the skye is kinda quintessential for his vocals imo

  • @tonytherockerboy is that quintessential a pun for their song quintessence

  • yes!it's him,great band!too...

  • screaming voice of course.

  • Dirty vocals.

Troy Sanders does the clean vocals.

  • @legendofzelda101 Troy Sanders. The bass player of Mastodong

  • @JEREMYTRUJEQUE mastodong ...epic

  • @legendofzelda101 im sorry i didnt read your comment correctly This is the guy that sings the whole song, not the clean parts. Thats Troy.

  • The more I listen to Neurosis

    The most I like

    It´s a fucking amazing band

  • Comment removed

  • Is scott kelly playing some sort of extra drum part in this, cause that looks like him in the beginning of the video

  • Comment removed

  • Yes he is. He and/or Steve played additional percussions in many songs from Thrugh Silver In Blood up to this record.

  • yes he his. and in some songs steve von still plays these two drums sets too

  • probably is, both Steve and Scott do extra drums on through silver and blood...and i have a feeling I've seen steve von till do some drum parts on this song live...its on a video on youtube somewhere i think

  • you cant compare envy with them but you can show respect to both because they are both great.

  • how can you compare envy and neurosis anyways? their sound is so different oO

  • yes - not in depth though - not really my alleyway. I find they're music slightly reminiscent of Death, but more technical & diverse. I'm more of a sludge & atmospheric type :)

  • I don't disagree - I realized I've yet to discover many things in life & art, so I keep on searching...

  • well, Neurosis are gods!

    5 stars from me!

  • Just bought Times of Grace. It is brutal, bare, male, visceral & primal. This band simply cannot be compared with any other bands - it stands in it's own mountain like some sort of King Beast.

  • his beard's kin beautiful

    awesome track

  • this is very easily one of the best bands ive ever heard, so epic. pimeness the hole song, n quiet a few of there others.

  • Envy? Envy beats them at what? a d*ck sucking contest? That band wouldn't be sh*t without the shoulders of neurosis to stand upon. Furthermore, how does a band "beat" another band. How do you measure just how good a band is? By popularity? how much money they make? musical schooling?

  • No, without Neurosis and The Melvins and High On Fire and maybe Sleep, You wouldn't have Mastodon, who hav acheived a lot of success without copying the bands they were influenced by. Mastodon has melody and theyre progressive metal, they gone beyond the drone and sludge of the melvins, sleep or even neurosis, but obviously if mastodon are good Neurosis must be an entirely different thing altogether, but still as good.

  • i wouldn't say mastadon was that good, if anything i'm more of an asbestos death guy myself.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

This song is one of my all time favorites. I was 20 the first time I heard it, and it has been with me ever since. It's so strange when a song becomes part of you.

PS: I like Mastodon a lot, but I Neurosis is a quite different BEAST.

  • this is'nt the entire song but OP is a huge neurosis fan either way

8/10 because just like women, i never give them a 10

  • I agree with JEREMYTRUJEQUE. Mastodon and Neurosis are completely different bands. Quit the comparisons and just listen to the music. Also check out the song "Crack the Skye" by Mastodon. It's freakin intense. Also features Neurosis' singer. Totally sick.

  • I remember buying this cd in 2001....i havent stoped listening to it since

  • I'm glad to see everyone loves Mastodon.

  • I shit my intestines out at 3:30

  • man this band rules so hard

  • Whatever fukers - Google didnt like my comments - Live long - live proud - destroy anything in your way.

  • i love this song. stop comparing these guys to mastodon. theyre two different bands. dont get me wrong i fucking love mastodon but shut the fuck up and enjoy the music sriously.

  • hey, whatever gets these guys big works for me, they've deserved it for a long time

  • anyone here seen Envy, the japanese band, live? i saw them in tokyo a few years ago and thats the closest ive come to witnessing Neurosis style power at a show - i wanna see Neurosis and Mastodon on the same bill, that would be something..

  • yeah, and the less like Neurosis Mastodon sound, the less fun they get.

  • great, they are the forefathers of the greatest metal band inthe world-MASTODON.This fact appears to mean something, they're awesome

  • I wonder if Neurosis's popularity will increase with Mastodon's commercial success

  • Well I only heard of them cause of Mastodon so it works for me

  • how did they go from hardcore punk to doom metal?

  • Hahaha, Mastodon even LOOKS like these guys!

  • heaviest band ever

  • ROFL

  • @veganpunxforlife

Lol go try Strapping young lad :P

  • @Iznoghoul i dont find bands like strapping young lad very heavy at all. its all way too over produced. its fake heavy. neurosis is pure, raw heaviness. no drum triggers, no protools. all analog recording. no studio magic. what you hear in their recordings are exactly what they sound like.

  • @veganpunxforlife So fucking true, I've been looking for a good way to describe bands that are just so over produced and "fake heavy" is perfect. It's like they have no idea and are trying to imitate the sound with money.

  • @MastodonManiac

exactly, over produced shit sounds lame and fake, you gotta distinguish real raw power from fake overproduced pretentious crap.

I hate when heavy music sounds overproduced and too clean. It's goddamn meant to sound raw!!!

  • heaviest band ever

  • Fuck...the radio edit! I remember listening to the Tribes of Neurot with Times of Grace and getting freaked out! That's something all new Neurosis fans should experience...

  • YOUR RIVERS FLOW IS DAMNED ALL TO HELL

  • Neurosis is pure sickness! I f#ckin love 'em!

  • You wanna know why they remind you Mastodon this much?Because they are Mastodon mentors,if you don't mind...

  • and isis', and cult of luna's, and so on

  • Fuck yes

  • @Abbyssalom can't forget that Scott did the vocals on the song Crack The Skye

  • Never heard them before, they're pretty sweet. They remind me a lot of Mastodon.

  • Comment removed

  • I pirated the complete Neurosis discography, based off of the influence they've had on Mastodon. I love Mastodon. I have absolutely no idea where to start with Neurosis, everything is so difficult to grasp. Any songs I should start off with? I also listen to Tool, a lot of 80s thrash, some DT, Primus, etc.; basically a pretty good mix.

  • Shit! They are so great!

  • STRONG HEARTS SOAR THROUGH BLINDNESS

  • pure wrath. i love it.

  • mastodon

  • I would say Enemy of the Sun is their benchmark album. I started listening to them at Souls..and when Enemy came out it was pretty obvious what direction they were going to head in.

  • shit video good band

  • By far my favorite Neurosis song of all time!

  • I saw these guys in high school. By the end of the show they had 10 drummers. That show blew my mind.

  • his beard came here to kick ass and chew some motherfucking gum....and it's all out of gum.

  • ROFL

    great call

  • hehehe Gotta love duke

  • or the film they Live.

  • hmm, good enough, but... not my style.

  • This song is so intense... pretty amazing how this band convert anger and other emotions into their songs.

  • is it me or does the annotation at the end of the video totally ruin it?

  • I miss eating a fist full of mushrooms and seeing these guys live. Nothing quite like it. Neurosis needs to do a tour like the grateful dead. So I can follow them around eating fistfulls of mushrooms and dancing all night long.

  • Gotta love these bands influenced by sludge metal, technical metal, and prog.

  • Epic beard.

  • such a great video!

  • no wait I think it was 1:52 so i need to work out my abs so I can go up and down like that or something..

  • I came to watch the video so I could see part 1:44-1:54 lol again.. and again..

  • It is a crime that the song is shortened for the video. Like every part is cut short. Even more of a crime since this is my favorite track off Times of Grace and one of the best Neurosis songs ever recorded. It's one of their songs that if you don't like it, you don't like Neurosis, because it has everything Neurosis does so well in it.

If you like this video, listen to the actual song or better yet, buy every Neurosis album possible.

  • Every word is absolutely truth, must be the strongest song by Neurosis

  • RAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEE

  • This band is like Mastodons main influence right here. Mastodon and Neurosis should team up on an album. It would be epic.

  • Holy fuck. If they did a split EP or something, I think I would shit a brick of pure lead. That would be fucking awesome.

  • what bass is dave using?

  • this song is like a black hole, crushing you from all sides.

  • They're very different.

  • Yeah....awesome.

  • Neurosis is tops

  • man the singing style i so awesome, emotional yet still metal. I love it.

  • these guys are fucking epic!

  • Brann and Brent toured with neurosis on the 99 relapse contaminated tour, when they played with today is the day on the in the eyes of god album.i got to see 2 of the shows on that tour and think that was brann's best work. on the European stretch of the tour steve austin threw a fit because neurosis was headlining and refused to play. so bran and brent basically became roadies for neurosis for the remaining of the tour, then they formed mastondon.this is what bran told me before forming mastdon

  • great band!! sooooooo intense!!

  • They're f* intense!!! Love their sound!

  • aaamaagod.. so good, was looking for a live preformace but u cant get it all.

One of the best songs for sure!

  • No wonder Mastodon always mention this band in most of their interviews. I mean this band truly is f**king awesome..

  • Shut up.

  • <3 mastodon fav band. their so different and their music is complex. both these bands are teh sex tho.

  • they remind me of alchemist which is a good thing

  • Strong hearts soar through blindness

Tearing the fog, tearing the eyes

    To clarity

To a place where truth is seen...

Just awesome, too bad the song is shortened in the vid

  • I gotta say a sun that never sets and the eye of every storm are the bests albums no competition for me, though I enjoy this album alot, just feels a bit too intense for a neurosis album, nothing wrong with it though, the end of the harvest is def my fave song tho

  • Too intense? Interesting. I had viewed this album being a little closer to their sounding more like their earlier releases. Either way, still a great release. One of the few bands I actually am willing to more than $40 to see.

  • You are obviously a "late" Neurosis fan. Nothing wrong with that, but the intensity level of Times of Grace is what most longtime fans consider vintage Neurosis. Eye of Every Storm and A Sun That Never Sets are their "mellow" albums.

Check out Through Silver In Blood, which I´d say is their benchmark album and coming of age, when they really outgrew their hardcore punk roots for good and truly embraced the style of music they would come to create(and many people have imitated).

  • one of their greatest song.

i fuckin love times of grace!

  • SO AWESOME!

  • got into them through isis and cant decide who i like more... these guys are definitely more intense and less accessible though...and i mean that in a good way, they have great soundscapes in between brutality. awesome band

  • his beard is sooooo brutal

  • his singing is brutaler! :P

  • no his beard is much more brutal and epic

  • i just recently got in to this band because one of my buddies showed me theym. they are amazing.

  • everytime i hear this song rememinds me of Primordial... im i the only one?
