Very good analysis. I have played enough reggae to agree with the topics discussed. I tend to play the scratchy rhythm a bit different, by rapidly releasing left hand pressure to mute the sustain and get the same effect.
hi there :) i started playing guitar a year and a half ago, at first i liked to play other peoples songs and still do to a degree. i very quickly become curious with how these people created songs, after a lot of internet searching and a couple hundred lessons :) i came to understand major keys and relative minor, and the basic minor/ major pentatonic. which as you know can produce some simple but effective songs. but its not enough for me so thanks for the advanced lessons. i really appriciate
i didnt really expect this guy to a name as roots as peter tosh or dennis brown..if u guys really want to get an idea of those scratches u should listen to artists like the Abyssinians
I would say reggae is kinda like Jazz. Your going to want to accent on the "ands" and play against the beat. Thats what is cool about jazz and reggae its more free in my opinion than classical. Start off with a minor
Thanks that helped my a lot man...i am 15 years old and i am just creating my own band i have started writing a reggae song but i was stuck at the solo thanks a lot for the scales:D you own man....wating for more videos:P
