Check out Jan Svankmajer (I recommend his film Darkness Light Darkness in particular) and Ray Harryhausen (especially the scene from Jason and the Argonauts where 3 live actors fight off 7 animated skeletons... AMAZING STUFF).

Thanks! you just need to practice. I've been at this for about 4 years now and I'm still nowhere near the level of anyone really good (Ray Harryhausen, Jan Svankmajer, just search them on YouTube and you'll know what Im talking about)
