There is no place to put the key. In Mercedes you have only button ( with Keyless Go). If you want to see it - search "keyless go" in Google graphics!

You can only start the car when you are sitting inside it. There is another possibility: you can start an engine when the key is about 50m from car. The start/stop button is at the same place as normal key-engine ignitor (next to the steering wheel). Regards !
