I've never been to Gatwick, but have been in Heathrow numerous times. It was recommended to stay away from Gatwick if possible.
The only time I've ever been in an airport that was evacuated was at Stanfield International Airport (YHZ). (NS, Canada). There was a fire alarm. I wasn't through security but had already checked in. Everyone had to leave the building and wait outside until it was OK. It blocked security for quite awhile.
but an airport evacuation is probably one of the hardest because its huge first of all and because of that there is thousands of people that are scattered only god knows where.
