Very well detailed sir :) I might copy your list if I ever need to remove the head on my 91 SW but so far this engine is behaving good with only 72k miles. (knock on wood).
@hp11208 Let me get this straight the timing belt is on correctly and you rotate the engine to TDC then you want to know what to do after you check your marks. You do not have to do anything if everything looks ok you can leave it at tdc if you like.
Awesome vid. How many labor hours do you think this was? I know it cost more than the car is worth, but forgive me for assuming but I'm assuming you operate at a lower hourly rate or these people really love their Escort. :)
@richpin06a Holy crap Rich! Heater core replacement I remember that vid. I think maybe it would be better to put a tap into the coolant lines, drill a couple holes through the fire wall, install a heater core under the seat with a mini radiator or blower fan and voila. Or, just put a mounting bracket over the two middle vents over the console. I'm sorry but there is no way I would have the patience to take the entire dash apart and remember where it all goes back.
@studpuppy69 All things considered, changing a heater core in an Escort isn't too bad. It took me four hours from start to finish. I still wouldn't want to do it again though.

So what's the point of setting tdc before you take the head off, could you not wait until you can see the #1 piston on the rebuild and set it then

@honda12racingcbr If you are replacing the head you would not have to.

Oh, if the timing belt is busted, will the crank still turn over?

Love watching these videos Rich! Very informative stuff. Out of curiosity, do you find working on Escorts or Neons more of a challenge?
