  • somewhere up there peter had the breaking news story of bin laden's arrive interview to the golden gates.. which end rhe end was shut down for enterance & was sent HELL..lol

  • When Bin Laden was found and killed, I half expected to see the same man whose news reports I grew up with come across the TV screen.

  • great tribute, thank you

  • great video of one of my heroes. Thank you.

  • There are very few newsanchors that we could trust. Peter Jennings was one of those anchors.

  • R.I.P. Peter J. love you and miss you : (

  • I watched him as a child, and on 9/11. My mom watched his coverage of the Oklahoma City Bombing on the day I was born, April 19th, 1995. My mom loved him and we watched him every night. I was only 10 years old when he died, but I still remember watching him announce he had lung cancer, then hearing of his death and crying while watching ABC's tribute to him.

  • @WildPrincess922 When I was a teen, he was the epitome of the handsome, attractive, and elegant older man. Did you ever see the special he did regarding life in Israel? He concentrated on Jerusalem. I'll never forget how that coverage inspired me to travel there. Jennings captured the essence of an extremely diverse population packed together like sardines. On one block you'd have Othordox Christians; two blocks over Orthodox Jews, behind Catholics, over there... You could feel the tension...

  • Let's not ask why the U.S. govt. has outlawed treatments for cancer that are efficacious; nor wax nostalgically as to why the govt. wages undeclared wars in nations that have no aircraft & no battleships and no standing armies; or why the govt. fabricates influenzas & the pandemic A.I.D.S., & sprays the citizenry with heavy metals in the name of "terra-forming"; or why the C.D.C. in Atlanta has 500,000 Hercules-Series coffin liners neatly stacked in a soybean field by the train tracks.

  • On this Day 9 -11 .. I cna still hear his voice.. When he Spoke The Audience Listend and Believed.. He Is trully Missed! By all ,Jeannette

  • I HAVE THE EXACT SAME NAME AND LAST NAME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I spent many years travelling the world and in any hotel room, in any country, there was World News Tonight with Peter Jennings; such an amazing journalist that even the BBC in the UK used to broadcast the show for an hour each night!

    God bless you Peter!

  • 5 years ago today..we lost him

  • awesome tribute! (LEARN FROM ME PEOPLE BY KEEPING THE COMMENTS NICE AND SHORT!!!!!!!!)

  • I will miss him so much! (Crying)

  • Missing him ...

  • You will always be missed!

  • My favorite of all time. News is not the same now that he is gone.RIP Mr. Peter Jennings.

  • I saw him in action when he did "ABC2000" at the Millenium, and he was cool as a cucumber when he did 9/11.

  • he was 67

  • I finished growing up with Peter Jennings. No matter what was going on, he was the one we always turned to. He was a brilliant journalist, an excellent reporter. When he passed away, I felt a deep, personal loss. Thank you for this fantastic video. I love it!

  • R.I.P Peter Jennings.

  • Today is 4 years without Peter...

    ...i still miss him.

  • sooo handsome!!

  • Excellent tribute!

Thanks for posting such a well done piece!

  • Peter Jennings was a legend and I cried when I saw this and when he died!! RIP Peter!!

  • nice video. he was the man that at the time of 9/11/2001, calmed down a nation when we wanted to react in a negative way agaisnt anyone that is different than us.

  • I'm still sad over his loss he was genuine i remember his last broadcast i will never forget it.

  • I felt a huge sense of loss on Peter's passing. I loved listening to him and amidsts todays media mistrust....I trusted him. Let it be.....Rest in Peace, Peter. Thank you for posting this.

  • Beautiful! You are greatly missed Peter! Rest in peace.

  • @lukumi007 FUC* YOU!!

  • @wheelfan100 Shalom

  • very well done. thanks!

  • i love you, Peter Jennings :( rest in paradise..

  • Best news anchor ever! #1 Rest In Peace Peter Jennings. Great Tribute excellent job.

  • for those of you who have not read his book "A Reporter's Life," i encourage you to do so...it will blow your mind!

  • Will he be the next movie?!?!

  • i like the part at 2:02

  • I had such a connection to Peter Jennings. He was absolutely the best journalist and television anchor I have ever witnessed. God bless Peter Jennings.

  • I cant say I thought of him as a good guy, but this tribute shows that, as the Chinese saying goes, he lived in interesting times, a North American.

  • he made te news fun. i never watch it anymore

  • R.I.P

  • You will always be missed Peter Jennings! Why did you have to smoke? Peter Jennings 1938- August of 2005. ABC misses you peter, and so do I. You will never be forgotton. If there are real angels up there to help us, one of them is this man Peter Jennings. I wish I could meet him, but I have never gotton to meet him. What I just typed up was the memory of Peter Jennings. Once again Peter Jennings 1938-2005.

  • I remember watching "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings" when I was 6,7,8,9 and 10 years old. I would run into the room to watch Peter deliver the news in a way that fascinated me. The whole family would gather in the family room to watch him. Since his departure from tv and his death, my family no longer gathers to watch the news, in fact we don't gather at all. It seems Peter Jennings was a sort of glue that bound my family together. You are missed horribly Mr. Jennings. RIP. *I'm crying.

  • the world lost the best news anchor in 2005.remember watching news with family since i was a kid and jennings was the best. now he's in anchor in heaven! miss you pete!great video and song my favorite.

  • I caught him on late night TV here in the UK and he had that thing which could have endeared him to so many british people had he anchored over here. His style was very modest and likeable. Not at all a typical USA reporter over loud and sensationalist. What a guy!

  • good song

  • his dead?

  • Wouldn't it be nice if people would show respect for the dead? Oh to live in a grown up world...flow on Mr. Jennings. I miss your work.

  • Peter was a grate ABc news man .

  • Thank you for this great memorial to the greatest evening news anchor of modern times, sorry Tom and Dan, he had you beat by a long shot. I don't think there will ever be another Peter Jennings. Another interesting fact, Jennings took less time off from World News Tonight for vacations and illnesses in his tenure than Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw did from their respective newscasts. He worked harder and it showed.

  • i do like the guy, but u say he worked harder and it showed, for 60 min mon-fri...

Quote: when one man dies its a tradegy, when one thousand men die its a statistic

  • Peter Jennings is greatly missed! He was the reason I watched WORLD NEWS TONIGHT! No one quite like him. Watched him for years, he was familiar and like part of the family.

  • He was a MASTER at his craft w/out EVER setting foot in college and he has a knack for asking the same question 100 different ways.

    R.I.P

    XOXOXOXOXOXOXXOXOXOXOXOXO

He's just TOO GOOD to be forgotten.

  • He was a good honest reporter, a rarity then, now nearly gone permanently, we have Cafferty, Dobbs & Olbermann leftover.

  • What a great person. RIP. I miss seeing your face Peter.

  • nice tribute however i am not a speed reader and your comments were not on the screen long enough

  • He was part of secret organizations that manipulated currencies, oil, elected officials and foreign governments..

  • Woah, even the worst conspiracy theorists would say that's a crazy thing to think.

  • You're an idiot.

  • I need to clarify, "you're an idiot" was in response to VAMFV and StellarMortem.

Peter Jennings was an amazing man. He is truly missed.

  • This was all very, very nice until the glaring grammatical error toward the end. (Incorrect use of "seen") That really ruined it for me. Maybe you could redo and fix that, at least. Otherwise, very nice.

  • He is the ONLY news broadcast I ever watched! Miss him.

  • Peter Jennings was one of the few decent Journalists, sadly his life was cut short when we needed him most.

  • A very nice tribute to an amazing achorman. He will forever be missed by those of us who watched him on television.

  • how he died?

  • LUNG CANCER???????

  • Peter Jennings is always my favourite anchorman. His confidence and style in reading news will be forever remembered.

  • Peter Jennings forever Legend of ABC News the landmark.

  • peter made the most heart felt news report on 911...he intially died from it

  • i'm gonna miss him i luv him and tom brokaw they are such great reporters and i luv their voices. and they are ledgedary anchormans. luv him and i miss PJ!!!! u will not b forgotten u will be remembered. miss ya and luv pce R.I.P

  • Thanks for that--Peter was my favorite. There will never be another like him. Watched him on 9/11.

  • What is the name of this song!

  • Let it be by the beatles

  • I would hire Peter Jennings over Dan Rather anyday! and the only thing I didnt like about PJ is he did not show emotion on 9/11

  • As a journalist one of the first lessons is you don't show emotion. No matter what. Mainly because people are watching you and looking for comfort. It's like "someone's strong and there for you, a shoulder to cry on."

  • he is a ledgedary anchorman

  • One of my personal heroes. You were the best Peter you did a great job! =)

  • great tribute and great song. I'm a Beatles fan and I think you chose a great song for a tribute to a great man. great job!

  • No he wasnt you idiot.

  • one other person here has it right on this page thats what makes me not confident in the worlds people to get out from under,at least in this paridigram.

  • he was a agent for the controlled media , the worst type of sell out there is . soem of you people should wake up a little .or a lot and name calling is a childs reaction and you have the aspect of a child doting on a father figure.who isnt one and opposite of one.

  • derp! Jennings was an excellent journalist. Journalism is crucial in a democracy. His kind of excellence is rare.

  • you are an asshole, I bet YOU are the one with the fat lying face.

  • that was very nice. that's amazing that at 27 he was anchoring a night news cast but sadly he did'n'tlast that long because he was going up against cronkite on cbs and chet huntley and david brinkley on nbc, but 20 yrs later he stayed on for good and he was GREATt RIP PETE

  • Rest in Peace my news friend.

  • God I miss him.

  • this is a wonderful video. i grew up with peter jennings, he came into my home every night for the first chunk of my life. all of you haters are fucking idiots. this man was a wonderful, smart, and hansome man, not to mention an amazing newscaster. i agree he was and always will be THE BEST t.v. journalist.

    he will/is be missed

  • Amen to that! Peter Jennings is/was my favorite tv journalist of all time.

  • Peter- you challenged who we are as ammericans. you were the man who said what needed to be said. even if the news was something we did not want to hear

  • he was the worst example of the news media control. he was part and parcel of controlled information and lies and misleading , he was a common shit heel who sold out for money and the carrer he so loved more than anything.

  • My brother has got two videos about his carrer.

  • He and Ed Bradley are still missed.

  • made me cry, love it.

For Peter Jennings (1938-2005) Rest In Peace!. Vaya con Dios!!!.

  • WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? He was known to be liberal. Did you read anything about the man before your fingers hit the keyboard?

    Great work Loved it.

  • I liked Peter Jennings. As far's the music, well--okay.

  • I'm just curious as to what a "memoriam" is anyway? I certainly have never heard it in the English language...Yes, it was such a tragedy that a biased conservative journalist has bitten the dust. Quite sad. PS, please don't use good songs by the Beatles for poorly edited tributes to conservatives. The Beatles were liberal after all. Why don't you use a nice conservative music artist such as Twisted Sister?

  • how heartless are to to blatanly disrespect the dead? his political views do not de-humanize him, he was a very kind man and helped get all americans through some very hard times.

  • PS, please don't use good songs by the Beatles for shitty tributes to conservatives. The Beatles were liberals after all. Why don't you use a nice conservative music artist like Twisted Sister?

  • I'm just curious as to what a "memoriam" is anyway? I certainly have never heard it in the English language...Yes it was such a tragedy that a biased conservative journalist has bitten the dust. Quite sad.

  • He was my hero now ABC SUCKS

  • I respect him a lot.

He was one of the few news anchors in the country who could take a look at America from various angles.

I sometimes think American journalism has somewhat become nationalistic and shortsighted.

It was surely a huge loss not only to American people, but also to the world.

    Great video! I enjoyed it!

  • Thanks. But I was planning to upload a updated version of the video, but I decided not to do it.

  • In this crazy world, I miss your calm reassuring voice.

    Rest in Peace Peter.

  • Very well done. As a child he was the only one who actually was able to make me watch the news. Charlies good, but noone will ever replace Peter. RIP.

  • Countless times in the past three weeks, a question has come to mind about the Middle East, and I'm brought up short realizing that Peter's not here anymore to provide an answer or an opinion. It takes a long time for loss to settle in. Suffice it to say, Peter is missed, by many of you, and by all of us.

And That is World News for this Monday. I'm Charles Gibson. For all of us at ABC News, have a good evening and good night."

  • "We made mention earlier in the broadcast that this is the one year anniversary of Peter Jennings' death. It is not lost on any of us that the news these days is dominated by events in the Middle East - an area that Peter loved and a story that was in his pores, in his DNA. I suspect if Peter could have had a wish granted in world affairs it would have been for peace in that area. As is apparent, not all dreams come true.

  • Today is the 1 year anniversary of his death may you R.I.P. peter 1938-2005 ABC News will never be the same without you. :(

  • I agree with you. The late Peter Jennings help made ABC News a household name when he joined in 1964 until 2005 when he announced he had lung cancer.

  • My childhood hero and idol...very much missed

  • There's no replacing Peter.

  • And what have we learned from this conjecture, if nothing else, children? DON'T SMOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    To absent friends... <:-(
