A softball moves differently. COMPLETELY.
You'd also be surprised to know the reaction time in softball is much shorter than in baseball. Despite the pitch moving slower in softball, adjusting for the pitching distance, it makes the reaction time quicker.
I know this as a former player of both baseball and men's fastpitch.
