I hit a day like that once on the Race. I believe it was 2004, and there were literally MILES of bluefish making the water boil, 10 feet from shore. In between those blues and the shore, were bass up and over 40 pounds. Most insane day of fishing I ever had, must have caught 50 blues over 5 pounds, and lost $200 worth of gear.
that sucks if u didnt have a rod, but a good site, i went to nut island quincy massachusetts today, bunch of baitfish, not many blues.. some small ones.. its kinda fun catching them.. and a bunch of sand perch.
Now that's a sight you might not see for 15-20 years! Back in the 80's you could go fishing for not even 30 minutes here in Boothbay Harbor, ME and catch 20-30 good size Blues! That was when they were driving the Pogy's up. Man, them bastards, there were so many of them. The city spent thousands and thousands of dollars to pay to have just tons and tons of dead Pogy's cleared off of waterfront roads and the shoreline. All you could smell was dead fish. We spent a good 20 years killing them.

if you smell the area during or after the attack it will smell abit like watermelon.
for the life of me can't get one to taste halfway appetizing, why?

I'm jealous, that was definately a time to a castmaster in the water!!!! (or even a bare hook)

yeah and now my kids arent gonna be able to catch em cause of the greed and selfishness of the old timers killing every fish they hooked..
THANKS ALOT.!
francmeister420 3 years ago
I'm not the kind of fisherman that goes around in a 500,000 dollar trawler netting them all. Those are the greedy people.

wow reallly my great grandfather and my father ued to live up there and they told me the same thing you just said
