Correction - the Bangor Auditorium seats 5900 people. And we snaked around the building, down the Dutton Street access road, along Main street, and back up Buck Street - right up to the horse barns. So, it wasn't 2500 people. Maybe 2500 people out the main entrance, where he spoke outside - but there were another 1000-2000 in line behind - and that is certainly not the number of people waiting inside.
His people came into the Tim Hortons in brewer where I work and they bought like 8 dozen doughnuts at 5am. Thats what I remember about his trip to my home town
There is no certainty in the words of a leader, a prophet, nor even those of God, the certainty of all rests in their actions.
Mr. Obama has already proven he can make positive change in the way politics are both regarded and practiced, by simply rising above the status quo, is not this what the world needs and desires of all its leaders ???
One who lacks the strength to stand with peace, needs only the courage to stand behind those who do not.
This man totally gets it. I love how he has had to work hard to get to where he is. I tend to trust people more who have had to work hard for things in life. It helps me know they understand the common man, as oposed to someone who grew up in immense wealth.
Actually Obama's a bit wrong about teachers... Teachers are having to work 2 jobs, and pay for supplies for themselves. And want to know what? It's not from underfunded schools, its from school administrations that are pocketing from levees that are passed that don't give the teachers the money, but rather the administration. I know, I'm a victim of administration pocketing money. I had to drop out because of my school administration using and abusing me for extra funding.
you all know about DAVID vs GOLIATH right? i dont who is GOLIATH but i can tell you this guy is DAVID remember GAVID was young and GOLIATH was an experienced soldier
I'm proud of us Mainers...we made the right choice! I'm glad 'cause being overseas I couldn't be there to vote. I'm just stunned at how much of an "upset" the media considered this win to be. The data was right there...
Money raised in Maine:
Barack: $330,000
Hilary: $70,000
And Hilary was expected to win? Further proving the media and pundits know nothing...
And considering Maine is very open-minded towards female politicians AND 95+% white, this is a big, telling win for Obama!
Experience of what? Of political culture? It will take your soul. Look at Hilary. Look at Bush. Vapid. Empty people.
When you throw around the word "experience" in politics think about what it means? It means jail time. It means being in a system that numbs the spirit.
We all have to rise to the occasion. We have to jar ourselves from our comfort zones.
This is the dawn of a new age. Have faith. Believe. We're the strongest country in the world. Act it.
Barack, please defeat John McCain. The republicans will attack you on defense and on experience, but i know you will be best prepared to win for us. Long live Obama!!!!
Mr. Obama...your a great speaker. But can you answer me one qustion? Are you willing to take military action agains Iran if all diplomacy efforts fail? And if you cant answer that one can you tell me ANY of you policies in detail...other than you will be differnt than G.W.Bush?
People, please work together to go on Obama's site and email him, suggesting that he use the song "IMAGINE" by John Lennon before or after his inspirational speeches. This will get baby boomers to remember their idealism, once embodied in this song, and to support Obama. It also fits in line perfectly with the message of this movement. If he plays this song before a speech, is there any doubt he would win?
This is real people. That elusive vision of something beautiful, that ideal that we hold as absolute good but can never quite put in words... It is alive in Obama. This movement is what we've sought for so long. Vote for this man. Donate to this movement on his website. This truth is real. Yes we can.
Hi, I was very disappointed today when I went to C-Span at c-spanvideo dot org seeking to hears Obama's 2-10-08 victory Speech. I was able to see hilary's speech but they did'nt have Obama's speech. God bless Barack Obama. He is completely right - if you work in this country, you should not be poor. Working Americans deserve healthcare coverage, and their children deserve a shot at a good education. Moreover, we all deserve the chance, for once, to be proud of our government - and Obama uniquely guarantees that.
Obama rocked!! If anyone listens to this man's logic and reason - and STILL supports a Republican candidate, then there must simply be something wrong with that person's cognitave abilities.

Whoa, he looks exhausted. This campaign is just grueling and he can't take any rest. He's going to have to continue to keep up this pace. And he has to have these rally and try and be inspiring to all these thousands of people who come to seem him, each time. That isn't easy. Well I wish him well in ME. And in his next round of elections. He will be a good President. I would love if this country gave us a good President. For the first time in 8 years.
Common Maine, we Americans living overseas are watching and praying you guys will support Barack. Just the fact that he is running has helped us lift our heads a little higher. Let's elect this guy and repair the image of America. YES WE CAN! Go Obama! GO!
"Überall im Land treffe ich junge Menschen, die die Noten, den Willen und den Wunsch haben zu studieren, aber nicht das Geld. Sie haben kein Geld und müssen sich was leihen. Zwanzig, dreißig, vierzigtausend Dollar. Sie haben eine Hypothek bevor sie ihren Abschluss machen. Bevor sie ein Haus bauen können, stecken sie bis zum Hals in Schulden."
It's the second coming!! We love you Obama, our MESSIAH!! Without a clear political philosophy or any innovative ideas, I still love you because of your speaking skills. You're youthful and handsome and God knows that's what it takes to understand how an economy works and how to deal with the complexities of middle east politics. Your naive view that all the politicians will just all get along when you get elected is adorable and that's why I love you. OBAMA '08!!
it must be hard for the politicians, they have repeat their speeches to so many states. barrack started with usual material, but then as rusticyuppie said below, he then went into more details and some new policies. I watched it on CNN and they didnt even discuss it. He's got lot more tricks in his bag, but, I feel, he wants to win against Hillary without having to use all of his tricks, so he can bring them out in Nov. I hope the ppl vote him ahead of Hillary. After that... YES WE CAN!
I was lucky enough to get in with my friends... we came an hour and a half early and then waited in line Outside in the cold for 2 hours before we got in... I was also very impressed with the turnout... I have renewed hope in Maine's future... but more importantly in America's future... Can we build a better future for America and the world... I say "Yes We Can!"
i tried to get there today... it was unbelieveable... no traffic in bangor, except for the auditorium and that was at a stand still. people waiting in a line to get in that was for people wide and ove a mile long. and that is not a joke. that is how it was... that gives me so much hope to think that in a small state like my maine that there was almost 7 thousand people inside and atleast half that outside. we were 90 minutes early and thats how it was... :-) one thought: YES WE CAN!!!
I went with my boyfriend's family and we got in to see Hillary Clinton earlier and compared to the amount of people that went to see Barack Obama when we were waiting in line (we didn't get in though, damnit), she doesn't even stand a chance in Maine.
I was there today! Drove 3 hours, stood 2 hours in 25 degree weather and just barely got in with 7,000 other people. He was amazing! Maine only has 1.2 million people in the whole state and 10,000 people showed up today to see Barack. Everyone was there... students, moms and dads with their kids and babies, older people, teachers, anti-war activists, truck drivers and just plain old boring people like my husband and I. It was incredible. I'm still glowing.
Your speech in Virginia was amazing. I thought you were getting a little too aggressive at first by directly addressing clinton while she might've been around and definitely in front of her supporters, but you really hit it home at the end!
