I'm a major fan of mixed media, but have found my favorite to be water colors. No matter what the rest of the jealous, name callers say, I think this is a great piece. I myself am half Irish, and half mixed American Indian (Blackfoot/Cherokee), and I have no problems with the term tribal being used. These people have no clue what they are talking about. Probably the same ones that buys tribal jewelry off of the shopping channels, wishing they had some type of artistic style of their own.
At 2:43 it was perfect. I can see a pretty palomino horse radiating light from its forehead. Then it was ruined by over ambitious spreading of the darks....*sigh*
not to be a shit talker but even for abstract art that is really messy i dont think those dark colors mix good with it although he did have alot of style to it it looked like someone just spilt there palet on it i dunno
This is very nice. The salt was a perfect touch, I don't think it would have looked quite as complete without it. I also love the music playing. What is it, if I may ask?
I understand that you are letting the materials work in this painting but I believe that you were making the marks and adding paint quite deliberately. I would not call this accidental, and I think JP would have diagreed with the comment - John
Thank you for the feedback on this video and painting! I was throwing the book at this painting...salt included! *LOL* Salt used sparingly can add a dimension to the painting...as can spritzed clear water.
I am not a great fan of abstract art - accidental painting, Jackson Pollock included - but I like what you did here. Besides using the pen scoring technique, you reminded me about the value of a well-placed dash of salt!
What makes this Tribal?

Awesome! I hate when watercolours dry. They tend to completely change the atmosphere of the artwork. Oh well, great work :)

Very nice Fagan. I love the colors - vivid, rhythmic and evocative of the Southwest. Great little painting!

...one suggestion: give a lot more (careful/responsible) thought to what you label "tribal." Otherwise, keep trying to express yourself.

Thanks for looking....actually I am part Cherokee Native American. I am not sure why you are expressing your concern over my use of "tribal" ?

I have trying to figure out new ways to take the backgrounds of my art and this was great inspiration. Thanks!
