Those castles are all from the german era, as well as the whole pre war buildings, culture and industry. Poland run down Silesia after taking it over fromgerman from 1945 on...AUTONOMY FOR SILESIA!!! THE SILESIANS HAVE THEIR OWN LANGUAGE,TRADITIONS, CULTURE,FLAGS AND SYMBOLS, HISTORY AND IDENTITY.
Silesia voivodeship is not a synonym for Silesia region. Silesia lies in those Polish voivodeships: dolnoslaskie (Lower Silesia), lubuskie (Lower Silesia), opolskie (in most part its Upper Silesia, also: Lower Silesia in the West), ślaskie (Upper Silesia in West, Little Poland in the East).
Częstochowa, Żywiec, Sosnowiec and Zagłębie Dąbrowskie - this is not SIlesia region, however those cities are in.. Silesian Voivodeship.
Administrative region are not consistent with geographical region(s).
liars, long before the poles came to silesia by 11th century, it was inhabited by Germanic tribes until during the days of rome. The settlements may be made by Polish people, but that was a sign of Polish colonialism in the modern day regions of Eastern germany. Viva la Germany!!! Pomerania and Silesia are german!
@CoreyStudios2000 just like how England was conquered by Germanic tribes, so were Pomerania and Silesia by Polish ones. countries and borders are just names and lines in the dirt, its history and genetics that matter, and while they may be of Germanic origin, they are now, officially, Polish.
@CoreyStudios2000 what do you think England, Germany, most of old HRE and Poland are? its all land exchanged through war. if you want to return land gained through war, you might as well return much of German-owned land. we are here, deal with it.
@IAmThe1337zor you didn't listen tome well. If they would have bought silesia and pomerania, then we would us it to make homes in german silesia and pomerania for poles and germans.
@CoreyStudios2000 to be honest, i want all of Europe united, and to keep foreigners out, i have no problem with Germany or her allies. i would not want Silesia to go to German hands, unless there was European Nationalism as a majority in all European countries.
@CoreyStudios2000 Only sick idiot from U.S can say such a nonsens even old ex-nazis don't have such stupid demands in Europe. We have proper relations with Germany and there is nobody in Germany who want's this lands back, besides some old grannies that remebers imperial 3rd reich. I think that Poland won't sell this even for every money in the world. It's like sell California, New York and Chicago in U.S. Stop talking bullshits.
@IAmThe1337zor and second, Germany's army is like about 91,752. Poland's is like about 68,650. And if the Austrians were to help Germany, i would say they would have about 35,000. And if the Dutch were to aid us as well, i think it will be about 30,500. So it makes 157,252 active.
@CoreyStudios2000 On the other hand we lost more land in the West then Germany have nowadays . Now on ex-Polish land there is Ukraine, Belarus Lithuania, Latvia. We don't want this lands back. We agree with reality.
You guys, silesia and pomerania had been stolen by soviets and so have poland's eastern parts. pomeranian was formally baltic. and now, in silesia and pomerania, they're german-Polish and must be annexed to build up relations with poland and germany and then give Poland's eastern shit back. east Prussia should be polish too, since it was not really german but was a colony.
And how exactly would you propose to do that? For the Poles it might sound like a good idea given that they were a larger country prior to ww2, and had Europe's most fertile farm land in the Ukraine and one of its cultural and economic centers in Lwow. Its ironic that the Germans wanted to increase in size in ww2 and instead ended up contracting in size at the end of it.

Do not visit Poland if you are gay. Catholic fanatics and uneducated Polish thugs hate gays and you may get beaten up, if they can tell you are gay. A lot of Polish people are nice, but a a lot are racist, anti-semitic and HOMOPHOBIC. YouTube is full of very hateful and disturbing homophobic comments in Polish.
It's ludicrous how some people from so called "civilized countries" show their deplorable lack of good manners. They make cutting remarks to help themselves feel superior and/or powerful. It's unthinkable they set their countries as examples of civilization.
Slavic tribes Luszaty and Obodzry inhabited Eastern Germany until the Elbe and the Saale. The Sorbi or Wende still live in Bautzen area. Goethe once had a conversation with an innkeeper who remarked," in this village no one spoke Deutsche until recently "-- 18th century!

How can you say that stupid lies?? You know nothing if you really think that!! Who built Jasna Gora, Wawel, Ogrodzieniec and most of Polish cities then?? The only cities that were built by German are Wroclaw, Szczecin and prussia towns. But they took the land that used to belong to Poland first.
My native land, I loved living in Pszczyna on Rynek near the palace and playing on it's grounds as a child before moving to Bytom. My favorite places to be were Eagles Nest area, Beskidy and Park of Culture where the outdoor pools were shown. So beautiful there. I miss Silesia and Poland so much!
Me too, I travelled from Australia to Poland in 2006 and stayed in Bytom for 10 days. Love the peole, food, beautiful country and wonderful buildings. Krakow is my favourite city. Greetings from Australia.
Bytom was once a beautiful place but much of the city is not in great shape now. The best part of Bytom were the people who were so gracious and friendly to a couple of Aussies. We stayed in a flat near the city hall and walked through the lovely park everyday, past the tennis courts and into to the city. You must miss it. We were there in July and the weather was great. Also went to Jasna Gora, Warsaw and Auschwitz. Krakow is so beautiful Wawel castle, St Marys church etc - stunning city.
Thanks! I know exactly where you stayed. I loved that park, it was my hangout every day, the kayaks on the lake there, swimming pools and I used to sit so often on the bench right across from those tennis courts. This park used to be so beautiful in the 70s and in the center square used to be trees, a fountain and benches. I lived on the street right off that square. Now it's just cement. Statues in the park were removed and little old church in the park set on fire, it was oldest in Europe.
I know that square BytomGirl, we went to a restaurant there and had pig knuckle - wow it was huge.!! I would loved to have seen the square with the trees and fountain. When are you going back? When did you move to USA? By the way, have you touched the bell in Wawell Castle and seen the fire breathing dragon, the black Madona in Jasna Gora - these are some of my favourite memories along with the pig knuckle :) I loved the trams in Bytom and the best cheese cake in the world.
Hi hilrush, is that the restaurant on the corner? You can see tht square in video Bytom 1991. What mde you stay there? Do you have friends or family there? It's uually not the kind of city turists chose. I left Bytom 30 years ago for my American husband who just served me divorce papers last night. There is nothing for me here now. I am thinking of going back to Poland. I love Krakow, might go there to stay Which bakery was the cheescake from? On Podgorna street in my building?. It was wondeful.
Yes it is that restaurant on the corner.!! Yes we have friends there and so pleased to stay off the tourist path and meet ordinary Poles. If I were to live in Poland then Krakow is a wonderful choice - can you hear Poland calling you back? :) The bakery was out of the city past the coal mines and on the way to the new shopping mall. The cakes were unbelievable. I have grown very connected to Poland and the people and I hope to go back soon before their culture changes too much.
Oh, wow! I ate so many times at that restaurant. It was my favorite! I miss those Polish pastries, they are the best in the world. Yes, Poland is calling me and Krakow would be my place of choice. Have you ever seen and old Polish movie "Zona dla Australijczyka" (A wife for Australian man"?
Not seen the movie as my Polish language is very limited - very difficult language to learn. What is the story of the movie? The son of a family friend of mine married a Polish girl and brought her out to Australia but unfortunately she went back home as she missed her family too much. Must be very difficult to leave family behind and move half a world away. Do you have family in Poland still?
Hi BytomGirl, I have seen a wonderful Polish movie called My Nickifor (not sure spelling is correct) which tells of a famous Polish artist of the 1960's I think. Great and touching movie with wonderful shots of Poland. The role of the artist was played by a woman, do you know the movie.?
hilrush , Iknow about the movie about a Polish folk painter played by a wonderful, old Jewish actress. I used to play in a Jewish theater in Katowice.
I caught the train from Katowice to Warsaw and spent 4 wonderful days exploring the city. Old Town is an example of what Warsaw was - it must have been a beautiful city. The restoration work will take many years yet unfortunately. I had some great meals in Old Town in the cafes in the square. I don't think many Poles had met an Australian before and we had a lot of fun trying to talk to each other. Vodka seems to make me understand Polish very well. :)
I too love Old City in Warsaw and used to spend a lot of time there, my best friends lived in Warsaw. Yes, vodka can untie the tongue so I always leaned towards the wine :-)

Polonization is only relevant during the Commonwealth (also, mostly among the nobility), most of which Rossija stole.
Lviv was Lwow before the Sowjets killed or expelled all the Poles.
The Goths have been gone for over a millenia, I'm not sure how they fit in at all...
