Del toro is what is known as a magical realism artist. they envision mysticism inside of every object, person, or event. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a famous magical realism author (one hundred years of solitude, just to name one)

i don't consider this a horror to the fact that it is all nothing but a medaphor of real life and that none of the scenes were really scary... don't get me wrong this is one of my favorite moivies its just that when i tell my friends to watch it they don't want to because its a "horror"

i think its one of those movies where its better to wtach it on dvd as the quality comes through and you aprecheate it more. Its like batman I download movies all the time but sometimes its better to watch them full.
