Wow, if there was ever an executive I could learn to like, he just might be it. The man has vision - vision enough to see beyond the next quarter results. I wish some of my country's leaders has this much drive and foresight; instead of pandering to the small-minded.

Since before the launch of the EV1 ( nice screwup there, GM , I've been hearing how electrics could never seriously catch on because there was no infrastructure - wrong, there just wasn't anyone with enough balls to git 'er done

I am a big fan of shai's plans since 2 years now - the only thing I hate is the Microsoft based Software - I'd loved to see a linux based solution, maybee android, maybee meego whatever .... but love shai's mission - GO GO GO

I don't know whether Microsoft is more or less ethical than others, but you are right - Google Android would be a better platform for onboard computer. And - they would give full Google Maps navigation there.

As usual, vested interests are holding back this push for a greener US auto industry and a dramatic reduction in green gas emission by as much as 20% in a much faster phase. Kudos to you Shai Agassi and your group!!!

In Israel where Agasi wants to sell his electric cars the electricity production is 99.5% from fossil fuels and it is not going to change any time soon. So at list here in Israel there is no environmental reason for the electric project. Not to mention all the huge government subsidies Agasi gets for poluting our country!!! Here it is all about making mony using subsidies poluting cars and electicity!!!

Have you even read the info about Better Place? Green power is part of the deal. The number of cars is tied to the amount of green power, that's the POINT of the project. It's a green power project, not just an electric car project.

Electic car is more poluting then a modern turbo disel car. You need to burn coal in the power plant and then you have the huge poluting battery that get usless after few years and need to be replaced.

There are other ways of generating electricity other than coal!

It is a step forward in the right direction, next will be replacing coal plants with nuclear, thermal, wind, etc. power stations.

If like me you'd live next to a fuel production center, that exaust 1,4 million tonnes of CO2 per year, and SO2 and more than 269 different COV, you'd consider wind, nuclear and watter electrivity with love.

Once the infrastructure is set up, you can power the cars from any kind of energy you can obtain, which includes solar and wind.

Shai has stated clearly they match every car they bring to the market, with enough alternative energy to power it.

Ever thought of the energy needs for oil production and transportation to fuel you turbo diesel? What is about regeneretive power sources, are there only coal plants or what? Ever thought of recycling batteries? Ever thought that the batteries will be improved over time?

Only time will tell if that is the right approach but just don't prejudge to fast.
