There is intense discrimination against Californian's, so the first thing you want to do is change the name of your alma mater to a local school and pad your resume to look like a local. The influx of out of state money has had an affect on the price of rental housing and the locals have been forced to work for the first time in their lives, so they are bitter about it.

This sort of attitude stems from influx of people who aren't exactly what you would want for a neighbor, drug and gun runners, or just plan bad elements moving in from larger cities. This happened in my home town in SLO and the neighboring town Paso Robles. It has happened here in the little town I live in now in up state NY. Once a family village, now closed down tight after dark when the cockroaches come out.
