if you guys havent heard of these canadian rockers i highly suggest you do.... Trooper (put on a great show) Loverboy, April Wine, headpins, BTO or Guess Who, Prism and rush.
Seen all of these bands except rush they all put on fabulous shows BTO Trooper and april wine are my favorites though
Wonderful song. Such a talented group. One of Canada's best bands ever. The songwriting was amazing and they played so well. They also had a funny sense of humor if you've seen their music videos. I believe they still tour today. Some of their songs were absolutely amazing. I love the Album Dreams. Dreams, Dreams. Should be considered one of the classic Albums from the 1970's. Fly At Night alone is worth the price of admission. God bless them! :)
I saw these guys just before the switch tothe Headpins. they were playing with an edge. Too loud Mcloud rocked and Henderson was a naturel onstage.I'll never forget that concert.
If only we had a time machine to relive those magik nights back in the day and then zap back to reality today i could say wow that was even better than i remembered back at the wolves arena in 83 ?
The music the mood the knockout date and the nightcap all under a northern lights night yeah that would definetly be worth a Dr Who Time Bandit Car Jacking lol ?
had nthe pleasure mof seeing them this past September up close ant a fiar. and they were very kind enough to invite me to have my pic taken with them after the show...GREAT band either way still have it!
@Prayergirl100 apparently they just played somewhere...I am waiting for an answer as to where...I didn't hear anything...they are from BC..I live in BC..I would have been there if I knew...still waiting...lol
Thanks for putting this up...for a long time the only version I could find here was the ridikkilus version by Boyzone....if you want a laugh it's number one. Doesn't quite capture the feeling of the song though.
This is my fav Chilliwack song! Saw them up close and personal last year at my first Chilliwack concert in NS which sold out! It was absolutely and incredibly unforgetable. Blew me away!
I've never heard this version before. It's not too bad. But my fave is still the Sutherland Bros.! Thanks for posting! Also did the Everly's do this originally?
well, it's cute the Americans have a ' ruff ' on their houses, and the way you can always tell someone is from New York because they they say 'bekoss'.....
People from England get a big kick out of all of us bekoss we have funny accents, and think we actually know how to speak English.
@lumpagogo amen to that my pop introduced me to chilliwack when i was a young teenager around 16 and i am now 28 and i show everyone i know them and they all become fans of this great band
Not true. The music is fantastic but they didn't have the right distributor. I have the same problem. The team and I have recorded many great songs. stunpals(dotcom) . Our homework now is to find someone with connections. If we don't... we will be underated as well.
these guys were very underrated. i saw them live in the 70's & they put on a great live show. all these Chilliwack songs would be international hits if some american band did them.
Gavin & Iain Sutherland are brothers and were born in Aberdeenshire Scotland. There is only 15 miles apart from where they were born, I live in Aberdeen.
wow. as soon as I saw the album cover in the thumb list...my jaw dropped ! can't believe it's here .... good post ! I picked this up years ago as a radio station only vinyl...good stuff !
This is my all-time favorite song from my all-time favorite group from Canada. Alex Trebek is my all-time favorite Canadian game show host, by the way.
Geez....thanks for enlightening all of us on Alex. Can you name any other Canadian game show hosts that would be comparable? Now I will enlighten you...I once shook Bill Henderson's hand at a cabaret backstage!!
The way a Canadian says the word "out," as in "he got the puck out of his own zone," is that a Canadian puts an extra syllable to make it sound like "ow-ooht." I like that. I think it is charming. Same thing with "about" or anything else that rhymes with "out."
funny... i don't hear an extra syllable in how we say 'out' I guess we say it just the way it is spelled. Not 'ooot' and not 'ow-oot' - that sounds more like a southern accent (like Alabama) . It's just one syllable 'out' like spelling it 'owt' .
There is a petition at Chilliwack's website to try to have Bill Henderson inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (started by his friends and fans). It's an obscure site, and he has only garnered a few hundred votes after more than a year! If you think that he would be a deserving recipient, PLEASE go to gonegonegone-dot-com and register your vote. If 6,200+ have viewed this video alone, he must have a lot of fans out there.
I disagree; I think Chilliwack makes it sound better. For 20 years I assumed they wrote it, because it was the only version I ever heard on the radio.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You bellends would say that being Canadian. The original is way better by the Sutherland Brothers (who weren't brothers) they both came from two different small villages in Scotland. They also wrote rod Stewarts - Sailing.
I gave both a listen and I have to agree with the popular sentiment that Chilliwack gives this tune a little more spark. I guess it's difference between folk sound and the rock sound. Given that I first heard and liked the Chilliwack rendition I also like it better. (and uh, we can do without the sophomoric comments of the likes of mrkcdc...)
