  • you have installed something like intake system or turbos?

  • buy forged 1 piece push rods in the right size or this will happend again. they run around $130. and make sure that lifter still pumps oil

  • ok so i tore the top end off this weekend, and found that the ball on the rod on cylinder #3 had been beaten of by the rocker and the rod was hammered flat on the ends. I know the lifter may be worn due to this but luckily a local shop had some oversized rods that i threw in there. I have a vid. coming of the process. i put 6300 rods in...

  • I had this same noise. Tore my motor apart to find that 3 lifters had collapsted. I would look into that. Before i got it to my shop... I could hold it to 4k and it would stop for a while.

  • @68mustangcoupe1 Lifters really make that much noise? I have this same problem with my 95 i just rebuilt. Weird thing is my rockers(crane 1.6 stud mount) keep coming loose causing a knocking after awhile. I know 1 of my lifters is sticky so after i readjust the rockers there's a slight tapping noise. I put a bit of seafoam in the crankcase to see if that'll free the lifter, if not i'll probably just replace them. BTW my knock is NOT as loud as this vid but has a similar high tone, not deep.

  • a Ecam on stock push rods and springs is not good, i bet its a bent push rod or busted spring. it sounds like it to

  • but I have no idea if they are solid lifters or hydraulic rollers. any clue what they could be with the setup i have. I bought the car as is so...

  • @scadjoey they are Hydraulic lifters and stay away from the Hyper pistons, u look at them the wrong way they come apart. the leak could be from a bad lower intake or head gasket. Sealed power kit will work good.

  • yeah I'm thinking its either a lifter or a rod because i have plenty of oil in it and good oil pressure (around 45-50 psi at idle), but it still doesnt 'splain the water around the lower intake near the front of the engine. There doesn't seem to be h20 in the oil, and nowhere i can tell its leaking... Ahhh i had planned on getting a rebuild kit from summit with the hyperuretic pistons but now I guess I'll be getting a new valve train as well. It has an e303 cam with compcams rockers.

  • . take the upper and the vavle covers off, look for a bent push rod. its hard to tell in the vid but it could be many things. A lifter could be stuck, Oil pump drive shaft could have went =no oil getting to motor, good luck and let me know
