What has made Deadliest Catch such a popular show are the colorful characters found on these crab vessels. Guys like Sig Hanson and Phil Harris are the real deal, no nonsense working men who play hard, work hard and put their lives on the line every time they go to sea. They've got the same kind of pioneer spirit that settled the West in the 1800s and they are a living link to that tenacity that made America a great nation. Watching them at work is strangely inspiring to the rest of us.

My eyes watered at the tribute episode and the episode before that where it showed scenes from the reaction of the fellow captains. Wanted to cry real badly because he was fucking awesome, America has lost a true captain worthy of anyones admiration. Youre with God now watching over your sons and may fortune always smile upon them. Phil Harris our sympathies got to your family and we all grieve at this terrible loss.

Hey there bud. Very nice tribute for sure. Phil was the capt. that grew on me most and he will, like you said, be missed by many. Do us all a favor and just quickly remove idiotic comments from dipshits like insane goon rules and cuff down below. No reason for a 12 year olds to even speak on this issue especially in the manner that they did. Its not easy quitting smoking infact its said to be harder than heroin.
