2:54 ~ 3:47 and 4:40 ~ 5:41 are my favorite. 2:54 ~ 3:47 because it reminds me of the tragic end of brood war (this was the music on the record during the end when Dugalle commits suicide) and the second one just because it sounds amazing.
lol tychus took the fall nd was sent to jail..... then he comes back making a deal to be free, well for 1 thing, YOUR FREE!!! go with raynor and be a rebel lol, also if that wouldn't work, if i were him, id be like- ok i get to fuck kerrigan lol
2:56- 3:47: Long Playing, 33 rmp record manufactured by Dondon (They're still using vinyls in 2500?!? I understand the nostalgia, but there's still a limit!)
@stugs21, you gotta give them some credit, they at least knew SC original st was too good to be toped, so they at least didn't do the horrible mistake homm 5 did with its sucky ass new st :p
@toxicitzi the flute part at 1:11 sounds like they wanted it to sound as epic as star wars' soundtrack, but they just achieved to make that noticeable :P
Some years ago I discovered Warhammer 40k Dawn of War, and as much as I enjoyed SC1, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed when I discovered Blizzard had taken a lot of stuff from WH40K's Universe, and amazed to see a similar game that beat the crap out of SC1, I'll have to play SC2 and Dow2 to say anything but I think i know how it goes
i don't play the game but i love this track.... :3 It combines EVERYTHING. o.0 (Epic brass with drums, guitar, and Middle Eastern influences. And jazz. Holy crap. How can you combine so many things at once? The piano in the end is so stunning and tragic and film noir...)
@GenineM you know what you should do? you should PLAY the game. that's what'd make us all happy :D if you like the music, your gonna like the game. trust me
Okay, so in this song's instance there are 4 beats every measure. There are usually 8 measures in a musical phrase, all 3 of which you can feel simultaneously happening. The downbeats are on beats 1 and 3 in each measure while the upbeats are on 2 and 4. A good example of this is a 20th century American march. The "ooms" from the tubas are usually beats 1 and 3 and the "pahs" are usually from french horns, making the classic "oom-pah" pattern of a march.
duuuuuuuude... this song just... made me fall out of my chair and feel like I'm one of the men on Char seeing siege tanks rushing towards the zerg stronghold seeing the mighty Battelcruisers falling from the sky.. the zerg overpowering us :o .. dude this song is amazing ! HAIL BILZZARD ! HAIL STARCRAFT!
This rendition of the Terran theme is pretty good, but I think they could have done a better job.
There are several parts where I think it strays too far from the motif. When the central theme appears, I'm not sure they had the right instruments selected. Maybe the song just wasn't made for the orchestra.
I side with dragoons9009 because the song from the original isn't made for the orchestra. Nice try but first, make a nice song that is not from the original 4 sc2, second, this is the future, not some fantasy medieval world like wc3, so I reccoment not too "epic" but maybe protoss :/.
This song relies very heavily on trumpets, it's beat, and somewhat on piano. Strings and winds make brief appearances, but are in no way heavily involved in the song.
Oh, I just noticed there are brief bits with choral support. Huh.
I don't see where you get this fantasy vibe from. This has a very modern, very confident and military feel to it. Now, if there were trombones and entire sections filled with powerful violins... But there's not.
In general, I think people just associate orchestral themes with fantasy for some reason. Even though Star Wars and Indiana Jones have probably two of the most famous orchestral scores ever. (Though I guess Star Wars is sort of a fantasy)
The electric guitar always added character for the Terrans. That was what made the music, Terran music. The Eminence orchestra should have included the electric guitar. It really could have added a nice touch to this piece, as it is the Terran's signature instrument.
I think the Eminence orchestra should have just *not* remade the original StarCraft soundtrack. I'll applaud the attempt. In all, it doesn't work. More traditional instruments from the original would have been better, if they had been used.
I don't have a clue what you are talking about... This is beautiful! I would rather be playing the game with this soundtrack than it's original, no question about it!
It does "jump" around too much, as if the composer did not exactly know where to time each sequence. Doesn't sound like StarCraft either, more like some average orchestra you'd hear. Could have been better.
2:54 ~ 3:47 and 4:40 ~ 5:41 are my favorite. 2:54 ~ 3:47 because it reminds me of the tragic end of brood war (this was the music on the record during the end when Dugalle commits suicide) and the second one just because it sounds amazing.

03:45-04:23: Terran 2 'marine victory' section (the end -- not the very end music reminiscent of the mystery of the stars).
04:23-4:38: 'The Inauguration' music (Rebel Yell epilogue cinematic).
04:39-5:20: 'Funeral of a Hero' music (Stukov's funeral in the UED Victory Report).
5:20-end: Human victory -- thus, victory, No Matter the Cost.
Named after Mengsk's line: '...for we shall win through, no matter the cost!'

However, the SCV created the starport and fusion core. Which in turn made tech lab and a battlecruiser.
