Relatives often sort of pan off their responsibility to the wolves and then they complain how bad the wolves are but are they not to blame for expecting strangers to take care of their parents well when they in the first place refuse to do it;
The lady is a bitch for she passed the bucket of taking care of her elder and then she complains that others do not do such a good job of it. YOU WANT GOOD CARE YOU DO IT YOU IDIOT, BUT YOU CAN'T CAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A HEART OR BLOOD IN YOUR FRICKEN VEINS, JUST THROW MONEY AT THE PROBLEM THAT WILL DO IT HUH ! IDIOT. I do not condone neglect abuse by none but we should fess up and take care of our elders because they wiped our but one time, oh its better to forget or conveniently ignore, huh.
In my culture the norm is for family to care for elderly parents, usually it goes to the son or daughter with the most stable home ie, if they don't have young kids and they have a home with amble room. The rest of the siblings help pay for expenses like a live in care worker.
I never understood why people only have 1 child, I am the youngest of 4 and that will certainly help when my parents are in need.
pahahahahahaha. The mother was being punished for being so disrespectful to her caregiver!!! She should have been more respectful to her poor caregiver. So therefore she deserved the bruises for the way she was acting!!!
We do not believe in the nursement of homes. I have kept my dying grandfather around the house for the past 5 years. He smells like a yalks behind and tends to defecate everywhere. So in order to cope, weall just defecate everywhere in order to habituate the smell. Americans need to realize Hezmillah Aryal , that is the practice of keeping loved ones close, even if that means soiling your Brkha daily.
Right, well you obviously missed the point again. Since you're an obvious troll who has nothing but idiocy to bring to the table, I'm going to stop feeding your childish whims. Making death threats over youtube? What are you, 8? Good luck in all of your future endeavors, you're going to need it... badly.
And I want to punch you in the face...Someone should show you what abuse really is....stop being a fucking troll and get a life/professional help....what the hell is wrong with you????? you are a complete asshole

Well, totara, since you obviously didn't take the time to understand the message I was trying to project but instead decided to hang on one phrase, I will take the time to explain what I meant by "act up". Act up is a term that can be applied to anyone being rambunctious or out of order with policy. If you're screaming for no reason, you're acting up. My entire comment was talking about how horrible this situation is. You must be a slow person.
My late mom was in a care home for the last two years of her life due to a brain aneurysm that left her paralyzed and without feeling on one side. One day I came to visit her to find a nasty cut and bruise on one of her non-feeling legs. I was really pissed and reported it but nothing happened. There were some abusive nurses in her home and I would have gladly beaten the one who did it to her.

To abuse anybody is beyond me but an elderly person is unforgivable. I've been working in a nursing home for three years now and it breaks my heart to watch this. I would like to say that I wish there is more awareness of the abuse staff have to take while caring for these people. It's not uncommon for residents to physically, emotionally and sexually abuse staff on a daily basis. I don't think some people understand that health care providers are putting themselves at risk everyday.
personally I just take my mute elderly mom out once a day & park her downtown by the bank or liquor store with a sign that says "homeless, spare change please". By the end of the day when I retrieve her there's about $50 or $60 in the hat! Of course there's the risk someone will see the "homeless" part & have her institutionalized, but that's a win win situation, a retirement home for free. They can't trace her back to family 'cause I make sure she doesn't have any ID on her. I reccomend it!

You're right that a daycare would be easier, and that is because the kids don't know any better. But just because many of these elders are sick, does not mean they are crazed. Many of them are competent enough to feel like they have been abandoned by their family, left to be treated like a child. Many of them have seen and experienced more than we can imagine, yet very few of us seek to actually talk with them. Nursing homes must be set to a higher standard because it is their job.

It may be frustrating for those who work in nursing homes, but they have a job. Their job is to protect, respect and care for the loved ones of the families who put them there. If an elderly person is acting up they should be reasoned with. If they cannot be reasoned with then they should be put in a "time out". Following that, however, they should be talked with. These people once lived the lives we lived and they have had that taken away from them, of course they're going to act up.

I agree children are worthier than elderly. But, that doesn't mean they should be neglected on their care. Whatever our society created, we should look after them, such as drug addicts and mentally disable or ill patients as well as children and elderly.

I think u are ignorant as hell. Many people over the age of 75 have dimentia and other forms of deterioration of cognitive abilities. They shoud be treated with respect and dignity.
The state is partially responsible for this growing problem. Staffing ratios and matrix are standardized by the state and their minimal requirement is not adequate for quality nursing care to be delivered. If they set a higher minimal requirement, administrators would have to comply. The problem now is the industry puts more importance on money than the people they care for or their staff. Most nursing home employees work in an oppressive environment that manifests at the patient's bedside.
This isn't only happening in the U.S its happening in Canada too. The understaffing is a major problem here.
As for abusing residants/seniors, I have a zero tolerance for that. I dare that nurse hurt someone so vunerable. Hasn't she ever heard of gentle care. Go work at a jail.
This place should have been put out of business and the aide that did this should have been put in jail, not allowed to keep working with other elderly victims. The public really needs to know, before it happens to their family member. Think it can't happen to you. Think again.
The place probably made an offer, and the whole thing was probably so painful for the family, they just took it to try to alleviate their suffering. But, if I was in the families shoes, I would NEVER sign a confidentialitly agreement. I've worked in a Nursing Home, most of the aides are unkind and uncaring to the residents, some of them are satanic. I left the field because I could no longer bear all the abuse I witnessed.
As someone with professional experience of working with Health Authority Nursing Home/Residential Home monitoring groups, what i would question here is why 'Judy'settled out of court. The only way abuses of these kinds will lessen is if relatives seek the due process of the courts to put such places out of business and offenders behind bars. Why does this facility have the option anyway to settle as opposed to face a jury? Outrageous.

The elderly, that are considered to be poor to upper middle class, are a drain on today's economy, and deserve to be gassed to death.

7:17 - Great, make sure to video the ones that look happy and are still in decent health.
It's not the ones that are still in good health that you need to worry about.
The ones that require the most care are the ones that are most likely to be abused.

The horiffic stories in this report are our future if we don't do something to clean up nursing homes and hold them accountable.
We will all be vulnerable at some time of our life.
Visit the National Association to STOP Guardian Abuse to learn of another form of abuse of the elderly and vulnerable.
