lol just ran a 14.3 in my stock 2011 camaro LS ...14.7 is kinda high ... and these new 3.6's do respond to modds very well just LT'S and x pipe is soppose to give ya 25-30 to the wheels .....had 3 LT1's ....love them damn cars till it shifted into 3rd an i would get pulled by every mustang up top lol
that 93 lt1 with light mods is easy a low 13 sec car. the new rs won't touch it mod for mod... the ss however will hand the 93 camaro his ass mod to mod lol
good race cant wait to get my 93 z28 gonna be my first car im so hyped its already got a magnaflow catback and cold air intake cant wait to take her home
Its amazing how much power the v6 camaro is now. My 93 z28 6 speed was rated a t 275-285hp wich was said to be underated. I still love the 4th gen though. my dad has a 2007 monte carlo ss with 303 hp and I can roast him no problem. Nice vid!
@jeffs93z28 the 93 and 94 LT1 was rated 275hp. then in 95 it was bumped up to 285hp until the LS1 was put in them. but you are right. they were under-rated to promote vette sales. for proof, just look up a 97 vette(1st year of LS1 and look up a 98 camaro/trans am LS1. you will notice the 97 vette is rated 350hp and the camaro/ trans am was rated 305hp. the LT1s were the same way.
rs's are for the most part posi trac and have a sport rear end which can endure mor than just a stock v6 camaro and in some 90 models the rs is a 4.3L v6 insted of the usual 3.8L
@1badbowtie actually 93-95 were 3.4s and 96-02 were 3.8s. 3rd gens had 3.1s but still good race tho. i miss my 93 even tho it was a 3.4 with a 5 speed
@TheOzark52 no. never had a 4.3L in a camaro/ firebird. 2.8L V6 in the 80s until 1990 when they put the 3.1L in it. then in 1993 they put the 3.4L until the 2nd half of 1995 when they put the 3.8L in them. and the 3.8L was in them until they quit making them. and the V8 side was LT1 350ci from 1993-1997, then in 1998 they put the LS1 346ci until production quit in 02. both the 350 and the 346 are both 5.7L so if you look at liter size, it looks like they never changed it.
@TheOzark52 the sad part was my 98 grand am with the 3.1 beat this preppy kids camaro with a 3.4 he thought he was a badass til then lol that grand am was a pretty zippy car really suprised me
the "RS" emblem simply means it is a v6 that has the HID headlights with HALOS and the darker red tailights and 20" wheels.
the "RS" package on a 6.2L car would not replace the "SS" badge but it would still include the HID/HALO headlights and darker red tailights but the car ends up being an "SS/RS"
For those of us that have owned/currently own camaros from the past (especially First Generation owners like myself) know that an RS package camaro is always a the one to get!
Why even mention the "RS" Part? It has nothing to do with performance. It's NOT an "RS" anyway - that's an option. It's like saying it's a "Satellite Radio" model.
if it says RS on the back of the car it's a v6... otherwise a 1ss has a white ss on the lid and a 2ss has a red ss emblem. so yes, saying it's a camaro RS is simply saying its a v6.
My bone stock 93 z28 ran 99.7 @ 14.13, stock gears, only with cat delete, CAI, and b@m shift improver kit. Something tells me you gotta work on ur launch a bit, and it was over 100 degrees out when i raced.
great race for a stock lt1 with im sure tons of miles on it vs a brand new camaro. that tells you how good the lt1 motors are and how great the new v6 tech is now a days.
@NWpowerhouse85 actually autos usually launch better than a stick. the advantage of a manual is usually the fact that your gears are steeper and you go thru your powerband 1 more time(in a 1/4 race)
@1badbowtie im a classic muscle car enthusiast, i've owned v8 power-houses from 1963-2010. the 93 Camaro z28 is by far one of the best overall designed american rumblers to ever roll out of detroit. and im not just making this up for fun. cherish that Z of yours man.
you could throw 600$ into that thing and shave 2.5 seconds off of your quarter-mile, easily. (fullsys exaust, ram intake, perhaps a flywheel diameter adjustment). its a beautiful tuner car no doubt.
@1badbowtie Yeah, mine has 148,000 and i race a 2007 mustang gt and killed it. We were pretty much side by side to about 130 and then I just left him setting. LT1 all the way!
Lol I thought that video was never gunna end lol a 14 I hope its bone stock. Was a camaro drive untile I seen the light and got out of the hole and got a 03 cobra and I have never looked back well sometimes only to see the camaros drivers getting pissed
@fearthisbrink Eh, ive heard a lot of people go on about those Cobras, they're great cars, amazing power for their time, but id still preffer to get an 02' Trans Am, do a cam swap, throw some nice headers on it, nothin too crazy and it'd match the Cobra's power, if i wanted to get real crazy i could go for the LS1 383 stroker bore...im not sure which is lighter but i just preffer the look and feel of the Trans Am over those Mustangs, plus the lower center of gravity and stiffer suspension
Hm i would have expected the Z28 to beat the V6 a little worse than that, there's a lot more that goes into a performance model than just horsepower, there's Posi rears and gear ratios and stuff...but keep in mind this is an LT1 Z28 and not an LS1, im confidant an LS1 would have run a better time...im pretty sure this is around 285hp vs. 304hp at least if they're both stock
Also on a side note if that 2010 was an auto it would help, the autos on those cars shift perfectly, its hard to beat
was the lt1 stock? the ls1 im for sure would walk the new rs, but the lt1 is alot cheaper its an engine with a lot of potential, but the ls1 has 302 hp and if im correct 340 ft lbs of torque, and theres quite a weight difference, i am an owner of an lt1 (96' Trans Am) and i love it, i have roughly 5 bolt ons and a performance chip, and still costed less than an ls1, and my best 1/4 mile was 13.89 @ 99 mph
I have no idea if it was stock or not, LT1s are nice cause they're cheap but they pretty much got drown out by the LS series engines, im not exactly sure how much each engine makes stock but im pretty sure the LT1 makes 305hp stock and the LS1 makes around 325hp stock, i remember the LT1's stock numbers so well cause i would always say "wow, the 2009 Mustang has 305hp, so they're JUST now catching up to the 1993 Z28" LOL. Cool thing about LT1s is they make easy, cheap, and beastly 383s
lt1 camaros are 275-285 to the flywheel stock. the 98-02 ls1 are 305 to i think 335 or something close to that. 2001 and 2002 got the ls6 intake for an extra 5 hp or something like that
@Ratmouth66 you wanna know another thing the mustang is catching up on??? they finally are offering a 6spd for 2011 which Gm has snice 93 for the f bodies. lol but they still havent ditched the solid rear axel... maybe in 2021 they will lol
lol true about the 6-speed thing, thats long over due in a car like that...the live axle isnt a big issue for me though, its cheaper, stronger, and lighter, i'll sacrfice some comfort for that personally, hell i drive a 3rd gen camaro there's no way the suspension could feel any stiffer than that xD
i am proud of the new mustang though, i definatly preffer the camaro but its sweet to see the mustang finally rallying up
LS1 parts are a lot more money, however you can get a lot of power out of them. LT1 from what i've experianced, are cheaper, but the payouts better on a LS1
The LT's were the ultimate evolution of the first-gen SBC(the top dog being the LT4's)...they were great engines in their time(which ain't all that long ago), much like the old 409's back in the early 1960's. GM took those lessons learned and applied them to the development of the LS1. Point-blank, the LT's just can't BREATHE the way an LS can....
Well dern, I had a 89 IROC 1LE in 1989 with the 5.7 and sorry son....you ain't in LT1 territory. Semi modded? 125 hp wet shot of juice? You prob need that to put up a 13.90 in an IROC.
Not putting an IROC down or anything. I used to love them until the LT1 came off the line. LT1's run door to door with a LS1 and with LE heads and cam plus injectors, tune, bolt ons, gears and a 3400 stall you are at 11.20 119 mph. Facts.
sorry to burst your bubble a LS1 would kill a LT1 stock for stock according to statistics.. I agree with what you said about the wet shot on a IROC running a 13.90 that sounds about right. But the LT1 running door to door with an LS1? Your in a whole new ball field... Lt1 = 275 HP LS1 = 305 HP. LT1 could run 14.20s stock. LS1 could run 13.80s stock. Its a more modern corvette motor. only difference between LS1 fbody and LS1 corvette motor is the vette got a bigger cam.
Buddy, you are not bursting any bubble of mine. I have had a LS1 and about 10 LT1's. I run door to door with LS1's all day with stock LT1's. I have built about 10 LT1's & I know a little something about a Chevy small block. I still have my timeslips where I ran a 13.55 ALL stock with 2.73's. I owned a 99 SS Camaro, full bolt ons, 4.56, 6 speed, mid 13's all day. I have seen a ton of LT1's not only run with an LS1 but beat it. My current is at 11.20 courtesy of Lloyd Elliott & Jeff Creech.
lt1 can take ls1? that means my 07 gt can kill ls1s. dood no way... I raced my buddy many times in my stock 07 gt vs his lt1 intake and exhaust and still edge him out at least a car length. I have seen ls1s run high 12s stock.
ls1 is beast cant wait for the new camaro to hit showroom here ill be tradin in
LOLOLOL on a '07 GT taking a LT1. Ain't happening unless he pulled off a plug wire. I have "edged" out a '07 GT in a '04 Buick Ultra. Dude, come on, you can do better than that.
Dude I don't have time for you incoherent ramblings. I never have had an LT1 over a 14 flat in the standing quarter. I got all my timeslips since 1983 on everything I ever ran including times like 9.70's through 13.80's. I got a 292 inline Chevy six in a posted a 66 Chevy half ton that posted a 14.30 with just headers and an Offenhauser intake. Dude, again, you can do better than that. Next time do some more intensive Googling before typing. LOL
LOL Had an LS1. Thats why I don't have one now. Between the piston slap and not much response to bolt ons I had to let it go. When you have a full bolt on LS1 with a 4.56 rear on 315's and can't get out of the mid 13's then it is time to sell it to some big mouthed kid who knows nothing about cars. Have a nice life, kid.
It's spelled dude. And it should be you're. What does the phrase ignorant but funny mean? Oh I understand...you don't realize that there should be a comma in there somewhere. After all these examples of improper spelling and sentence structure it appears that you are indeed, the ignorant one. You should at least try to be funny. LOL You are ignorant but you make up for it by being dumb. See 'ya around your peanut gallery, stupid.
Stock full bolt ons with nitrous. C'mon dude, is that the best lie you got? You are about one dumbass of an idiot. Don't worry because I am no going to interact with you anymore. You seem to get excited too easily and I don't want your mama to come in on you from all the excitement and give you a spanking for being up too late. Kudos on your Matchbox GT. If you hold your mouth right you can make open header noises when you push it on the wall. See 'ya, snapperhead. Bwahahaha.
You are only 17? I appreciate your interest in debating LT1's vs. LS1's but I owned my first LT1 when you were 1 year old. Get some seat time behind the wheel and keep up your interest. Having the right combination is the key to going fast and not what magazines quote. Keep up the interest and look into the Buick 455engines. Once you build one right and drive it, you are addicted. See ya around dude and keep up the desire to learn about American muscle.
If you had a LS1 with full bolt ons I automatically think 12 second car...or really low 13s. The LT1 in my opinion is easier to mod and cheaper. But it gives less horsepower and torque. The LS1 is more exspensive but gives out more hp and tq. But I guess if your running stock tires and such your not hooking up right and mid 13s still sounds ok. I always had this in my head. LT1's sound a hell of a lot nicer...but the LS1 has the bark and bite. I support the iron block but aluminum runs colder..
LT1's are more torquey than an LS1 and a better engine. LS1 was on 315's and hooking was not an issue. Again, get some seat time behind both and then make your observations. I think your opinion will change. See ya.
My stock WS9 LT1 TA with a stock 700r4 ran a 13.55 with 66,000 miles on it when I bought it. It had at that time 245/60r16 Kumho Ecsta tires when I ran it. Bone stock even down to the paper filter and 2.73 gearing. No aftermarket bolt ons....nothing.
The 2010 v6 Camaro will run right with an LT1...but usually loses by a slight margin. The 2010 Camaro SS on the other hand smokes the LT1 and LS1(lol).
Considering the 2010 Mustang GT is close with the 2010 Camaro SS then I'm going to say the LS1 fbodies don't get "smoked" by the new SS. I'd bet they're close to even.
Thats freakin sweet! i'v always wanted to see what the new v6 can do against an LT1. GM did it right with the base v6, if only it didn't weigh so damn much...
you have to know that the reason its so heavy is because its build in another country, and the under belly is on another car so it has to hold up to other safty standers. if it was builkd her and only for the camaro then it might be a little lighter..... i think i heard it on auto week or something as to why its weighs so much
So the ford won right. lol just joking.

the "RS" emblem simply means it is a v6 that has the HID headlights with HALOS and the darker red tailights and 20" wheels.
the "RS" package on a 6.2L car would not replace the "SS" badge but it would still include the HID/HALO headlights and darker red tailights but the car ends up being an "SS/RS"

Wow your lt1 is slow. who ever that is. I ran a 13.6 and 101 Mph I have a 93 z28 and it is bone stock.
93z28joel 2 years ago
Stock they ran 14.0's check it. LS1's ran 13.5-13.6. I've had both.

No stock LT1 runs mid 13s. Sorry. I owned a semi-modded G92 90 Iroc-Z and I ran over LT1s all day and I pulled 13.90s. LS1s ran mid 13s.

you guys can talk all you want i have done it and have plenty of witniss. So GTFU

Facts.
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
sorry to burst your bubble a LS1 would kill a LT1 stock for stock according to statistics.. Its a more modern corvette motor. only difference between LS1 fbody and LS1 corvette motor is the vette got a bigger cam.
frostbytey 2 years ago

I have seen ls1s run high 12s stock.
ls1 is beast cant wait for the new camaro to hit showroom here ill be tradin in
XxBulletSaintxX 2 years ago
LOLOLOL on a '07 GT taking a LT1. Ain't happening unless he pulled off a plug wire. I have "edged" out a '07 GT in a '04 Buick Ultra. Dude, come on, you can do better than that.
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
14.34 on your lt1
dood first time i ever went to the track stock i bogged at the start and still ran a 14.1
time for you to get an ls1 buddy
XxBulletSaintxX 2 years ago
Dude I don't have time for you incoherent ramblings. I never have had an LT1 over a 14 flat in the standing quarter. I got all my timeslips since 1983 on everything I ever ran including times like 9.70's through 13.80's. I got a 292 inline Chevy six in a posted a 66 Chevy half ton that posted a 14.30 with just headers and an Offenhauser intake. Dude, again, you can do better than that. Next time do some more intensive Googling before typing. LOL
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
LOL Had an LS1. Thats why I don't have one now. Between the piston slap and not much response to bolt ons I had to let it go. When you have a full bolt on LS1 with a 4.56 rear on 315's and can't get out of the mid 13's then it is time to sell it to some big mouthed kid who knows nothing about cars. Have a nice life, kid.
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
dont have time? i see you posted twice ha
I know it is good to have a good old car but dood lt1 got to go. lol which is why
i will be doing a trade for the 2010 ss/rs :] sometime before the year is over
still 14.3 -_-

LOL....whatever you say, kid.

ha dood your so ignorant but funny :]
XxBulletSaintxX 2 years ago
It's spelled dude. And it should be you're. What does the phrase ignorant but funny mean? Oh I understand...you don't realize that there should be a comma in there somewhere. After all these examples of improper spelling and sentence structure it appears that you are indeed, the ignorant one. You should at least try to be funny. LOL You are ignorant but you make up for it by being dumb. See 'ya around your peanut gallery, stupid.

I am so sorry for my grammar mistakes! Lol!
Who the fuck in youtube is actually going to reply about anyone's grammar errors?!
Funny guy I tell ya'... Lmao!
How do my "intentional" grammar mistakes make me ignorant if you don't even know my true knowledge and awareness? LOL
Funny guy I tell ya'... Lmao!
BTW fastest 05 GT ran 13.28 @ 101.73 stock. Do yourself some googling, they even have the time slip if your search hard enough.

stock full bolt on nitrous??? what are you talking about ol man lol
going are senile already lol
XxBulletSaintxX 2 years ago
Stock full bolt ons with nitrous. C'mon dude, is that the best lie you got? You are about one dumbass of an idiot. Don't worry because I am no going to interact with you anymore. You seem to get excited too easily and I don't want your mama to come in on you from all the excitement and give you a spanking for being up too late. Kudos on your Matchbox GT. If you hold your mouth right you can make open header noises when you push it on the wall. See 'ya, snapperhead. Bwahahaha.
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
LOL yeah and you should have seen my buddy's face when I beat him three times! LMAO! pwnd LT1
sorry dood
XxBulletSaintxX 2 years ago
Wait, why is it called ls1. isn't there only 1 LS??
kiskuh 2 years ago
You are only 17? I appreciate your interest in debating LT1's vs. LS1's but I owned my first LT1 when you were 1 year old. Get some seat time behind the wheel and keep up your interest. Having the right combination is the key to going fast and not what magazines quote. Keep up the interest and look into the Buick 455engines. Once you build one right and drive it, you are addicted. See ya around dude and keep up the desire to learn about American muscle.
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
If you had a LS1 with full bolt ons I automatically think 12 second car...or really low 13s. The LT1 in my opinion is easier to mod and cheaper. But it gives less horsepower and torque. The LS1 is more exspensive but gives out more hp and tq. But I guess if your running stock tires and such your not hooking up right and mid 13s still sounds ok. I always had this in my head. LT1's sound a hell of a lot nicer...but the LS1 has the bark and bite. I support the iron block but aluminum runs colder..
frostbytey 2 years ago
LT1's are more torquey than an LS1 and a better engine. LS1 was on 315's and hooking was not an issue. Again, get some seat time behind both and then make your observations. I think your opinion will change. See ya.
LT1HILLINGHOE 2 years ago
My stock WS9 LT1 TA with a stock 700r4 ran a 13.55 with 66,000 miles on it when I bought it. It had at that time 245/60r16 Kumho Ecsta tires when I ran it. Bone stock even down to the paper filter and 2.73 gearing. No aftermarket bolt ons....nothing.

the 2010 is a v-6 bro read the descript.
Rodney348 2 years ago
The 2010 v6 Camaro will run right with an LT1...but usually loses by a slight margin. The 2010 Camaro SS on the other hand smokes the LT1 and LS1(lol).
bucks2743 2 years ago
Considering the 2010 Mustang GT is close with the 2010 Camaro SS then I'm going to say the LS1 fbodies don't get "smoked" by the new SS. I'd bet they're close to even.

thats a v6 305 horse power 2010
vs v8 z28 305 horse power 1993..
cool
kingibenni 2 years ago
actually, 93 LT1 was rated at 275HP and 325ft/lb torque with 24-25 HWY MPG
paulkaygmailcom 2 years ago 3
Kinda under-rated in fuel milage cause LT1's got pretty decent...
People forget though... the LT1 still has an edge on the v6 due to its higher torque output, only marginal I'd say as this video has shown.
joshnc101 2 years ago 2
Actually the 1993 Z28 has 275hp and a 350 LT1.
YngwieGuitarGod 2 years ago
o yea!! they did a great job, beautiful car!!... I may have won by a very small margin, but he gets 29 MPG at the end of the day lol....
1badbowtie 2 years ago
If the LT1 is a 6spd it's supposed to get around the same on the highway.
srcej6 2 years ago
Thats freakin sweet! i'v always wanted to see what the new v6 can do against an LT1. GM did it right with the base v6, if only it didn't weigh so damn much...
joshnc101 2 years ago 3
yeah you think they would have made it lighter it would probly get about 30 or 31 mpg if they would have cut down on the size of the car
pfb99v6 2 years ago
you have to know that the reason its so heavy is because its build in another country, and the under belly is on another car so it has to hold up to other safty standers. if it was builkd her and only for the camaro then it might be a little lighter..... i think i heard it on auto week or something as to why its weighs so much
atlridder 2 years ago
true the Zeta platform is used with about 10 other car models between holden vauxhall chevrolet and pontiac and it did originate from Australia
