You kids have no idea what the 60's music was about and the BEATLES were as far as most of us BORN in the late 40's and 50's a bunch of hold you hand wannabee's. The 60's music was MOTOWN, and DO OOP, ELVIS, The Beach Boys and every thing in between. A style of music that even today is followed by young and old alike. Just like the style and beauty of our muscle cars so was our music. We felt cold when the BED BUGS made their first appearance. It was the beginning of the end for 60's music.

If you think about it... The 60s are just a copy off of the 50s... America started rock in roll in the 50s. than it reached England.... The Brits loved american rock and they started there own bands like the beatles and the rolling stones, the kinks, the doors(i think). Than they came to america along with tons of other bands (this is called the British invasion) This stared a domino effect of ROCK. So God bless the 50s and 60s!! Long Live Rock!!

I LIVED IT! Best memory was seeing the Beatles live in 1965 at Shea Stadium, NY. Then summer of 69 some friends asked me if I wanted to go to an "open air' concert upstate NY. Open air concert? "What? we have to sit on the ground" I said. "Guess so" they replied. "No thanks" I said. You guessed it, that open air concert turned out to be "WOODSTOCK". I remember listening to AM radio and hearing the NYS Thruway was backed up for miles people were trying to get there. What the F#%K I said!
Don't , if you do you'll be old like me, soon to turn 58. A friend I have not seen since back then is actually in the Woodstock movie. He's wearing an army jacket clanging some cans around people jumping in a puddle of mud. For all I know he could be a doctor or a lawyer today. FAR OUT!
@MurkyRow I remember working on my 67 camero in the driveway with a friend listening to AM radio wcbs NY and we were freaking out when they announced the NYS thruway was backed up of some 50 miles.. we were saying HOLY SHIT, maybe we should have gone. I must say, I never did acid, pills nothing except weed. And they dont make it like they use to thats for sure! Columbian gold was the best, 2, 3 hits and off to bye bye land you went.
Pink Floyd had a couple of good singles in 1967.. but did not become a popular album band until others had shown the way.. they did not peak until the 70s..
true, i just thought about it. The Syd Barrett era wasn't too great, but as you said they didn't pick up until The 70's with dark side of the moon. I forgot to think before I commented
@alroker2 the "syd barret era" was great, they were on of the first true physcadelic/acid rock bands and after syd left they became more progressive rock after a few albums. note "echoes" of of meddle
@allhailshatner Nice idea, but quite crudely done "Shatner". You don't deserve "hailing" for this. But, you get one anyway. "F"
And, you're a liar to boot- sorry friend, but you DIDN'T take it down.

For once I'd love to see a documentary on the REAL 60s! The San Fran hippie scene was not untill the tail end, and it was a VERY small group at that. However, being that California rules the media, they'd have us to think it was all about the hippie scene. Why not acknowledge the Mod, folk or even the LA scene such as all the garage bands that came out at that time? But nooo, it' always HAS to be about the hippies, like they were all that existed at that time.
Protesters of current day NEED new SONGS dedicated to our protests, please PASS the WORD!!!!Movements are EVERY WHERE,,,,WHERE ARE THE SONGS FOR OUR PROTESTS??? Where are the song writers???? Where are the singers,,,,where are the songs?!

gli anni sessanta sono stati favolosi x davvero!!ankio avrei voluto essere uno di loro...bel video....ma le voci di quei coglioni erano insopportabili...k imbecilli...
you should put the names of the songs used in the video......I want 2 know what's the name of the CCR's song 4 a long time now!!! can anybody tell me? please?.....:S
god you're an idiot, not only did they say it but the song clearly say's " have you ever seen the rain". if you're over the age of 10 then you should pity yourself for the common sense you seem to lack.
I grew up in the 60's when i was 8 all we heard was how bad hippies were such as lazy, dirty communists etc, stay away. One spring day,a "hippy" and his girlfriend came to our door and asked for a some water, they were nice and loving people and i thought"why are people so mean to them?".When i was 13,I knew the "hippies" were right in principle all along, you have to change peoples ideas even if they keep you down, hell i was a hippy myself.I remember to fighting negroes in school alot back then.
The 60's were the best times, so many great groups and great songs and freedom to do what you wanted, you could be whatever you wanted, everyones future was bright, there was no need for money, just to enjoy yourself, it's all too complex now and the almighty dollar reigns. Used to be happy to have a duffel coat and creepers, now it's all about appearances and possessions.
unless you were Vietnamese, then I have a feeling your future wasn't bright. it also didn't help if you were in Vietnam at all. I'll agree that the 60's were great, but we can't fantasize about the past like that. There is a reason we've advanced from the lifestyle of the 60's. How many "greats" died from drugs? It would be great to have everyone love and just enjoy life, but then we wouldn't have things like, well, Youtube and the internet.
Machrider, your message is a little confused but keep in mind we are not all Americans, some of us avoided Vietnam and drugs and had a bright future without being militarised, yes I did see the yanks on R & R and the drugs they brought to my country and that is regrettable, but we never had to kill others to get a scholarship to uni.
Just simply saying that "everyone's future was bright" wasn't too accurate. Maybe in the UK you guys were having a jolly time, but the 60's had a lot of violence and hate associated with them in lots of the world. Democracy Vs. Communism, race relations in the U.S., our President Kennedy being assassinated... no doubt I'm sure the 60's had their fun, but we can't forget that they were some terribly bloody occurrences in that same time period.
I grew up in the 60's and believe me it was a crap time! I don't know why people wished they lived in that time or say it was the best decade, it was nothing special at all!
Everyone was not aware of heroin or safety precautions in cars, or LSD or theft from scallies, illegal immigrants, what's with all this "The Carefree good old days" bollocks?!
I hate the 60's and I'm glad it's all over! If I had to choose a best decade I'd say the 80's. People were a lot more hard-working and serious then!
Men did all the work, a lot of women could have just had a part time job while the children were at school, instead they decided to not work at all. Chores were taken up for only a daily limited time, everyone just didn't get things done then! I know nowadays everyone is in a rush and that's not good either but it's better being in a rush to work then dawdling about.
Hi just checking back to see if they're are any music buffs from the 60's that could answer a music trivia for me. I can only remember the words from a song and it goes like this. "I will love you till the end of time" . It sounds like a solo artist i know it sounds like a male singer. I even heard it on the 60's station that is on satellite radio. That has been a few days ago tho. Who sings this or the title of the song, please. It is driving me crazy to find out. Hope to hear soon .
Out of all of them the beatles are the best

god you're an idiot, not only did they say it but the song clearly say's " have you ever seen the rain". if you're over the age of 10 then you should pity yourself for the common sense you seem to lack.

Used to be happy to have a duffel coat and creepers, now it's all about appearances and possessions.

couldnt agree with you more

unless you were Vietnamese, then I have a feeling your future wasn't bright. it also didn't help if you were in Vietnam at all.

Before you give me negative comments this is my OPINION about the 60's!
It's just what I thought about it!

People were a lot more hard-working and serious then!
miya34576 3 years ago
People in the 60's were lazy and too laid back.
