this is the worst investiment ever, 5 gigs is about a weekends, worth of streaming video, you can increase it, but once they start throdling it, you have already used up the extra 4 gb.
@beinteresting You are right, wireless broadband usually caps at 5 GB (I think ATT caps at 2 GB, but I may be wrong). Definitely not a good idea for a heavy user.
I don't think its worth what you pay! Don't get me wrong Its alot better than dial up but somehow I still feel light years behind people who live in the city with wifi and high speed interenet. I have to let a video load then play it...its stupid but with dial up I couldn't even do that...People in the city don't even remember what dial up is and I just stopped using it...all because I live way out in BFE! Its just not fair! BAsically I have Cricket because I have to not because I want to.
if you use 5g a month on this service you crawl to a stop and cant even load videos.... i am with cricket and thinking about switching to some1 that gives you what you pay for
Glad you like your blackberry. I don't have very good luck with my smartphone running on ATT. I have been using Criket more and more at one workplace as they have installed blocking software and it has worked pretty well for email and such. Perhaps I'm in a lower use area. I often have it on for an hour or two and check my personal email, etc. on my netbook. I like the bigger screen and keyboard compared to my tiny phone. With that said, it is no substitute for a broadband connection.
Funny blackberry 60 a month unlimited and it plays video no buffer. Wow, 1.6down per second on a cell phone. If you can keep cricket connected its good for email and web text. But so is a cell phone? Cricket is overpriced at 40 bucks sorry.. One bar or 4 bars makes no difference with cricket, its bottlenecked to death! 6mins to view a few web text pages. Ive owned it for a year now and used under 2 GIG within 12months because its annoying. Disconnects, or you have to force reconnects.
FUKKKKKKKKKK it took 36 min for this video to fully download ...men cricket IS a bit slow ...a bit??? hella slow ive had it for 3 months now and ..its been getting slower and slower mane..... any advice on how to make it perform better???
I don't think I would use mobile broadband for video chatting. It may be possible to use it for something like Skype or magic jack. With 4 bars the video performance is better but still not acceptable in my book (buffering).
I ended up getting it and i love it. It really is all about location and where i'm at in chicago, it's always at 4 bars and the youtube videos may buffer for a couple seconds but not that much. Also, the static web pages and streaming audio are very quick! Even video chatting with 3 bars was possible and there hardly was any lag! Great investment for 40 bucks a month! (free modem and 25 dollar activation fee)
@ddr122 i feel u but men mine is hella slow i use it mostly for Myspace.. google...youtube Most of the time .............sometimes i use it for muzik download but its like the slowest... i think i rather pay 27.99 for AT&T its way faster...a lil slower then COX but better than cricket
Cricket broadband "Bites the Big One" and that's being nice about it. & 7.5gb limit is useless cause you are "throttled" from the "get go".

Don't worry about the 5gig per month cap because it would take you 4 months to download 5 gig. If that is even possible.

Will this tri-band modem work in NYC since i go there every year. I checked the coverage site and its not clear.
Also which is better the A600 or the U185C and whats the difference?
samhainaz 2 years ago
I don't think Cricket supports NYC yet. Not sure about the difference in the modems.

I love my cricket broadband card. I only use it when I cant get onto an open wifi.
For what I do cricket is more then fine for me. I do some minor flash games but thats the most I use it for and it works great.
Hey its better than dial up

@Drmikekuna
How is it for video chatting? Or audio chat? Is it even possible? (Consdering your in on a good location with many bars)
Thanks, Josh
Also, if you had 4 bars and were in the right location, would youtube videos not lag as much, or hardly at all?
Awesome video you made, very helpful!

@Drmikekuna
Alright, good to know, but what about audio chat?
Also, have you had any expierance with clearwire or virgin mobiles "Broadband2go"? Which is on the sprint net work?
Also, which mobile broadband service would you recommend for audio/vchat and youtube videos considering your at a good location with 4 bars?
Maybe not frequently, but something useable on rare occasions?
Answering all of the above would be highly appreciated, Thx, Josh.
