Oh, those good childhood days, just renting this movie from the video store while staying over at my grandparents' place. I remember seeing the preview for this on my Thumbelina videotape and naturally I got curious and wanted to know what it was about. I saw the last third of it on TV up in Door County and then I watched the whole movie through for the first time at my grandparents', I think I might've been 8 or 9 or 10 when I watched it all the way through.

1. A less retarded, hunky-dory plot.

2. More intelligent/mature characters. Don Bluth always overdoes the cute/funny and underplays the darker aspects that create dramatic impact.

3. Less musical songs.

4. Taking itself more seriously.

A Troll in Central Park and Thumbellina were both released by Don Bluth in 1994. After seeing both movies, I thoroughly believe that most of the time and effort went into A Troll in Central Park. A Troll in Central Park is at least (or at most) laughable. Thumblina, however, is so bad that it is nearly unwatchable.

I absolutely loved this movie when I was young, and I now know only our young childhood can really appreciate the magical stories told like this one, I watched this movie so much when I was young that I burnt the tape, simply by being over played. @bittersweetsunrise I think Don Both is a talented animator, however he has horrible ideas. This plot is lame, the actors make me cringe, the songs are complete after thoughts. It's like what people stereotype disney to be, pointless happy bouncey characters with good animation. Once again, animation is awesome, frame by frame, cartooney, appealing. But everything else about this is down right horrible. The only "average" thing Don Both made was Anastasia.

Rock A Doodle had that "I'm A Furry!" line that I like to use when watching animes that have character with animal ears or tails, and Hutch, the Duke's nephew, and the only funny character in that film. [Plummer made up for this film by doing UP.]
