It would not be an understatement to say that John Paul II did more damage to the Catholic Faith, than any other Pope in its history, closely followed by Paul VI of course. There is nothing venerable in this.

1962, I certainly hope you are not saying that the Catholic Church the Church that Jesus said the gates of hell shall not prevail against has been "hijacked, kidnapped, ect..." Just because the Vatican II allowed for mass in the vernacular does not mean it is a different Sacrifice. Jesus is still made present on the altar at every Catholic Mass, regardless of the language.

@ComeHomeCatholics The changes made in the Mass were much more than "allow[ing] for mass in the vernacular." If you have an opportunity to see an old-style Tridentine Solemn High Mass, please do so. You will be amazed at the differerence between then and now. I am not saying one is bad and the other is good, but it is much more than a matter of language.

He placed it back in the secret archives of the Vaticans Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith where it remained hidden from the world until recently. In 1917 the Fatima children understood that the bishop in white, in the Secret, who falls apparently dead, was the Pope.

Pope John, and Paul VI didnt reveal it because of it's graphic contents. As for John Paul I HE ONLY LIVED FOR 33 DAYS!!!

I bet Even some atheists are calling him a good man. John Paul II touched the lives of so many people no matter their gender, creed, culture, and heritage. And to think a Catholic like yourself are in 'dismay' just because People from all over the world want to see John Paul II canonized just doesnt fit well. PAX!

@FreedomLiberty21 Well, the Pope is the head of the Catholic Church. Pope John Paul II or Karol Wojtayla I have to say is the best Pope. Im not just saying that because Im Polish. Pope Benedict xvi is also a great Pope. It takes a lot to be the Pope and if your not Catholic you will not understand.

Just by refering to a human being as "another old man" speaks enough about yor regard for humanity itself. JP did not claim to know the meaning of life, HE KNEW IT, as all of us who believe. What makes him different was his commitment to his mission, which was to carry a light for the world, and hope for all nations.Among other feats, I am thankful that JP, in conjuction with Walesa, and Reagan, initiated the fall of communism, with its nuclear threat, in USSR, Polonia and East Germany.

As a "born again Catholic" I can say  I am a product of Vatican II, having served the Church for almost 30 years, for the Glory of God. I am old enough to have overcome the fear of nuclear war, but young enough to have missed the latin rites. I can not see the advantages of hearing our mass prayers and readings in a language I couldn't fully identify with, if that is what some want to bring back.
