I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:

1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!

i think every version of this song has a different story to tell, this one is more like a bitter sweet ending to a tragic tale (never actually heard of the ballad of john henry) while buble's is more like a man who is on top of the world (or a secret agent as he portrays in the music video) while muse has to do about the "weird" population of the world who dont care what people think and are just gonna feel good cause they can. i dont have enough from for simone's but am i makin any sense?

@Nemacyst117 he was a folk legend that made train tracks, and the legend has it that the people that him and all of his work coleages were replaced by a machine that can lay tracks automatically.. so john henry challenged it and said if he does it faster than the machine everyone gets their jobs backs. So John Henry beat it and then died of exhaustion after because he had no water - because he didnt stop because he wanted to beat the machine. So everyone got their jobs back but he died.. :)

But I have heard so many versions and so many of them are done so differently and with their own story behind it. For me the original and the ones that stay true to the original are the best. This masterful blues king has the guitar and voice talent to dress up all the classic blues pieces of the past, and bring them from their gold status up to platinum plus. Who can out top Joe Bonamassa? No one. This boy has it folks, and is gone with it, hot as they living come. I 'm so glad that I was living in the generation that this blues king was born in.
