GOODNESS - I remember when this was being shown. Takes me back
Too recent to be Maradonna and too early to be Messi - funny how BOTH of those players AND the boy in this advert are all left-footed, though. I can see why some people thought it was Maradonna and others thought Lionel Messo
hehe i found it! I thought this was a 'lipsmacking pepsi' ad, spent ages learning that flick up from behind after watching this, thanks for reuniting me with it, anyone know the year?
His sister, etc.. all HISPANIC. Next time open your eyes and don't let your biases blind you. Also, note that they included what B.Obama called "special olympics" people (his words, not mine)...watch that little baby whiff on the soccer ball.
@yt2vinay Yeah, those murderous whites whom have brought civilisation and beauty to this wretched world.. Hopefully they´ll be wiped out before the end of this century! Fuck you!
ytlarryman, Didn't you see that the guy is wearing the most amazing soccer team's t-shirt? Soccer is the most popular sport in the world... If you don't like that, that is not our problem... I'm Brazilian And We all love soccer... You don't like because you don't know how to play...

Very talented kid! But I hope he redirected his talent into a real sport instead of some sport like soccer that no one cares about! Who cares about soccer? What an odd, unpopular, obscure sport to highlight in a commercial. The young boy has talent and hopefully he can apply to a real sport.
Ha, Unpopular, sure I come from a rugby nation, but come on, soccer is the most popular sport on the planet. More people play soccer than any other single sport.
I remember the bicycle kick at the end and thinking he is definately not American, or English for that matter! I also remember the guy controlling the ball right at the end after the bicycle kick.
THIS KIDS NAME IS RICARDO NEEVES. but obviously he didnt make any major impact on the soccer world. this ad is from 1980. great memories. i was the same age as this kid, and i juggled like this out in the green too. aw, why is there no future in the past.
oh i do remember this after all but only realised that when he did that over head kick at the end, for some reason thats all i remember from before. yeah did he play for anybody professionally?
this ad used to run in the eighties over and over, in the netherlands, in this american version. On German TV there was no singing, just at the end 'augenblick mal, zeit für coca cola". no other commercial had such an impact. marvelous to see it once more.
my freind sed that about coke. "i dunno y every1 wants ta talk on coke...aint nobody listnen jus' waitin' ta talk" I remember that line from fight club now though...fu*k. u got me...tu chez
Let's all go back to wearing bellbottoms and platform shoes and we'll REALLY be able to smile again! Oh, and don't forget long hair. That is why I am the 70s Man, you dig?!
Pablo had trials for a number of football clubs, but he was never able to pass the ball. He did go on to join a circus to perform his talent, but was a very demanding employee demanding high wages, so much so that the owner of the circus had a monkey trained to do the act leaving poor Pablo without a contract. He turned to drink and drugs for a time, but managed to kick them and got a job as a groundsman for a local football club where he was killed in a freak lawnmower accident in 1996.

I don't think it's "bleached white America." If I'm not mistaken, the boy featured in the commercial is Latino. :)

@Lingonsyltegott Oh, struck a nerve, didn't I?
As if Japan needed help developing into what it is, today.
BS upon BS. Just face it, it was a bigoted America for a long time until the 70s.
Like Condolezza Rice mentioned before, America was born with a birth defect.

I just love this great ad and the song.
Too bad English is not my native language,
so I don't completely understand the lyrics.
Who could kindly type the lyrics, please?
I'd really love to get it!
Thanks a lot!

He did go on to join a circus to perform his talent, but was a very demanding employee demanding high wages, so much so that the owner of the circus had a monkey trained to do the act leaving poor Pablo without a contract.
