I asked Marty about this track when I went to one of his guitar clinics a few years ago. The parts that don't really sound like Marty are intentionally played that way because he was trying to emulate Jason's style.
Marty NEVER sold out, he's a guitar god. A living legend, because his life went to Japan and he left megadeth doesnt mean he sold out. He LOVES playing guitar, he lives for it. He always has. He never sold out, he just went away from Metal that's all. You should all bow to the god that is Marty Friedman.
He is the man that made me switch to 10 - 52 in 1992. The sound, the BENDS the attitude, the emotion. And Dragon'kiss still playing on my sono. Marty, thank you.

I respect Marty as a musician but hes turned into a douche bag........you guys gotta admit..he used to be cool...in the cacophony and megadeth days.......now hes a Jpop highheel wearing queer...

he sold out bro thats what the instrumental musicians have to do to be able to live properly. sponsorships help a lot though but album sales dont do well in america for instrumental musicians japan is where its at, those asians love that shit
He's actually more famous for his japaneese stuff now. His albums are selling there, hes going on tours. He was popular with megadeth but most people dont even know who he is.
Exactly. There's two definitions of a sellout when it comes to music. 1. You're changing your sound for the fame and only the fame, or 2. You're whoring out your name wherever you can to make as much money as possible. Anyone who thinks Marty sold out, watch him play and tell me he doesn't absolutely love what he's doing. Whether you like his new approach or not, you can't deny he loves what he's doing and so it'd be inaccurate to call him a sellout. He did it for himself, not the money.
Its sad, cuz in the beginning you know your missing a guitar part... It feels empty. In the original there was just 2 guitars, not one. I guess marty wanted to show us that.

Marty...your soul....yes I respect becker with what he has done....he's fast, accurate, great arpeggio, but one thing that he doesn't have....the soul that he gives in his guitar...not even yngwie...
Don't tell me Jason Becker has no soul in his music... There were a lot of guitarists faster and more accurate than Jason but the great feeling is what made him so fameous. Of course Marty is a genious as well, no doubt about it.
Jason has so much feeling than Yngwie. He didn't needed increase the speed to get more feeling(if you play can understand me)If Jason could play now,I bet my life he don't would have some person with his talent.Martin you know how much we need Becker.Today don't exist nobody who make feel the sensation of the music. Yngwie rejected my requirement when I asked him if he can give me a sign to my guitar that says "Jason more than a prodigy".Doing tribute for my entire life to Jason.I leave you
This song is so sad without the other guitar. So sad without Becker. I think this is a great tribute to Becker, I feel what that freedman says with every note. He says Becker is not here, but he is in our hearts and is the place where you can hear his guitar.

why does it matter what he wears? or if he plays jpop or not... i dont get it.

Sold out? He's not famous for playing Japanese pop. That argument works for Metallica, not Marty.

Nonetheless, sell out would be a misnomer for Marty. He's doing what he likes, if that's what someone is doing, then they are not selling out.

Exactly. There's two definitions of a sellout when it comes to music. 1. You're changing your sound for the fame and only the fame, or 2.
