  • Some of the music from the 80's was good but this wasn't

  • what ever happened to nick?

  • Damn I miss the 80's!

  • @axesent...The illuminati decide what music is written and played on the radio? Don't be so stupid!

  • @Banzaibarney Stop sniffing coke you paranoid freak

  • I LOVE yhe guitar solo it should carry on for another 60 to 7o secs

  • damn it - when the clip started my mom came in the room thinking I turned on some porn

  • Es muy buena la tecnología usada para la época.

Gran canción y un gran artista!

  • I've been thinking of this song lately. I lost my job, unemployment, bank accounts, apartment...I hate this life SO much. What kind of loving sane god would do this to someone?

  • @KaD4585 Sorry to hear that ... Its not any doings of a GOD.. its the system that is messed up and so many have to suffer because of it... it sucks.. Hang in there ((<3))

  • Hate to say the following......but, "This ls The Perfect Melody To OD or Commit Suicide 2 ;-/)

  • Want to be in my shoes for just one day. I hope your shoes fit better

  • NO SERIA BUENO ??

  • he hsa the same last name as me lol

  • Happy memories!

That brass-cum-guitar break from 3:08 is brilliant!

  • @pomoeeyore I agree...the little bit before it is awesome too!

  • @Time71Team the message below that starts by saying "thank you for your kind comment" was for you, put a reply up thinking it was going to you lol, thats something else we didnt have during the 80,s.."computers",and its plain to see im still a bit of a learner. thanks again.

  • @mrmrdean1 Your welcome. I no what you mean about computers. It took me a year of using a computer before i realised what copy and paste meant. I think we were better without computers, it meant we were forced to read books and do research for our homework, now kids just google and copy what is on the internet. The joy of learning and finding out things is lost on todays generation.

  • The very first time I heard this song back in 1985 I cried I was a teenager and i was so depress I don't know what compel me to think of this song but somehow I just type in what I remember and found it, it takes me back to a darker place in life but a happy one at the same time

  • @eyesnlebo i can totally understand where your coming from, thats how i felt.

  • This is way before the PS3 came out. This is way before Hilary Duff starred in Lizzie McGuire. This is way before the arrival of the PSP. This is way before I started typing in different words into my Nintendo DS Lite. This is way before I and Alexis argue against Janet Jackson's proof. This is way before Spaghetti and Pizza. This is way before Full House aired. This is Nik Kershaw singing "Wouldn't It Be Good".

  • I like 80's music more than much of what is out today. It had more of an ethereal, dreamy feel.

  • man how i miss the 80's.....one of the greatest decades for music and movies EVER!

  • Great 80's. Thank for post...

  • @Time71Team appart from a nasty episode in my life i can totally agree at where your coming from, its true to say that you dont know what you have until its gone.

  • @mrmrdean1 thankyou for your kind comment, alot of people seem to be negative to what i was, im glad to say though that after all that happened (inc turning to drugs and ending with a 10 year heroin addiction) iam now a straight guy with a straight life, "i think" iam a good father and a good role model to my son and daughter and its because them that my life has become what it should have done had i had direction in my youth, its not a sob story its a sucess.i hope life treats u well, thank you.

  • loved the 80,s but this song was in the charts as i was in a borstal (childrens prison) eastwood park,"now a womans prison, i was 14 years old prior to this and doing really well at school with a promising future, then "my rock" dad died 29 may 1983, mum had mental health problems and i went totally off the rails and just over a year after my dad died i was doing time, thinking i was a man but sobbing like a little baby in my cell wondering what the fuck was going on with life,im 43 now and good.

  • @mrmrdean1 Glad that life worked out for you. Losing your dad at such a young age is such a devastating event and it is not surprising you went off the rails.

If only it were possible to go back and spend one last moment with those we have loved and lost but all we can do is make the best of our life now.

  • Having been a teenager in the early 80`s i would gladly give up all the remaining years of my life if i could have just one day back from those happy days.

I never realised then that they were the best days of my life and i would never again be as happy as i was then.

Now those days are gone along with the family and friends i once held dear and as i get older life stops giving and starts taking more of those people who were in my life but my memories will never be taken from me.

  • @Time71Team oh life can only be what you make it. chin up, and move on. Make room in your life for new people dear to you, new precious memories and fun times. we can not live in the past, go out and make your future

  • @Time71Team Its was probobly better being a teenager then than in the late 90s .. Did you or anybody you know at that time in your high school years experience serious teen depression or suicide?? Thats pretty much all I saw in high school around 2001.. I was stuck in the 80s since my early childhood in the late 80s my life has never got better since the early 90s this music always helped keep me feeling that 80s innocence I was just little and happy then

  • @weirdscience85 As a teen in the early to mid 80`s i can honestly say that i never came across another teen with depression and teen suicides when reported in newspapers were very very rare.

I can empathise with you completely that this music is a great comfort and a reminder of happier times when life was so innocent and carefree.

If i had known how my future and life would be i would have chosen to end my life when i was still a teen and at my most happiest.

  • @weirdscience85 Teens from the late 90`s until now have so much pressure to deal with, far more than we ever had, i think the teens of 80`s were the last innocent generation and i would hate to be a teen now.

At least with music like this, for a little while we can travel back to those days when we were happiest and we still have our memories.

You are prob not into poetry but one of my favourites deals with grieving for happier days and is called "The Land of Lost Content". Google it.

  • @Time71Team Ohhh, you found the words to tell exactly what i feel! I was listening, trying to remember my innocent days, and this music...I'm 34 and my daughter is only 14...well, she couldn't understand at all, I don't know if I have to be sad or no for her...c'est la vie... Well, thank you for LOLC! Don't care to be a nostalgic fool lol sorry for my english, hope you understand

  • @Blijadur I do understand and there is nothing wrong with being nostalgic.

  • Ahh...high school.

  • @ dislikes: I guess "You got it harder"

  • don johnson's ultra white Armani.

  • I wish the record companys could upscale the classic videos to 1080p

  • 1:18 CAMPARI! :D

  • I remember him doing this at Live Aid, he was brilliant. I know a lot of great acts got the accolades on the day but the likes of Nik and Howard Jones played a great part at the UK end. Great musicians.

  • reactions til now ; three, three, free, freee, let's do that again...; one... (p.s. great lyrics for such a "poppy" song) and I'm not joking.!! and do know a thing about it..

  • @herewardthewake314 Your point being....?

  • Jonathon Ross and Andy Millman <3 forever and ever

  • @sunonthewindow Pointless comment, wtf.?

  • @veda1954 have you seen Extras Series 2 Episode 6? This is the song that plays during the picnic scene...

  • haven't listened to this for ages! thank you GTA :O

  • Awesome, all i can say

  • That saxophone solo is killer.

  • @Mrster is that sax? i thought it was keyboards

  • @jimjr155

You might right, but I'm sure it's at least supposed to sound like a sax, no?

  • @Mrster oh for sure...keyboards are a lot cheaper than brass though, right?...heh

  • @jimjr155

Hehe, besides, it was the 80's.

  • From one Eighties' delight to another.........Duran Duran brought me here

  • Ace

  • Wouldn;t it be good, yup, I want to live without a care...I going to try best that I can with what I got and I got something real magical I was given, I am very lucky to have got it(Knowledge) I sure wish everyone at least checks it out,,, no harm in finding out if for u...check out my channel if u want to ... peace and love to all

  • Gosh... after black'n'white and boring 70's came these marvelous 80's... what a time, what a fashion, what a groups, what a songs. Nothing can compare to that time, that was AWESOME !!

Poor generation of 90's and 2000's - u didn't live at this time...u see NOTHING.

  • @MagicLend I agree the 80's music was great, and I wish I was back there. That being said the 70's were also great. The 70's were not black and white. There was not yet music videos but all film was color, black and white went away in the late 60's. Colorful acts such as Bowie, Queen, Elton John thrived in the very rich music of the 1970s.

  • One of the great 80's songs

  • Why can't we have good music like this anymore? :(...and that's comming from a 34 year old underground Hiphop addict ( not comercial crap rap). Turn on the radio today and all you hear is rubbish theese days. Im lucky to remember all the good songs from the 80s!

  • @axesent Beacuase the music industry has a big agenda to dumb the young people down. It's an illuminist new world order plot to create a bunch of programmable robots all listening to the same homogenized crap. I turn on the pop stations occasionally and it all sounds the same. There's not much room for anything original anymore except for what's played on a few alternative stations.

  • @Parkinish That explains Dubstep, which sounds like robots. :P

  • @Parkinish yeah, we can see how dumbed down the young ppl are every time we walk out the front door!

  • @Parkinish very sad and very true

  • i always loved this song but never knew what he was talking about till the other week my partner left me took our child and left me in limbo, and i have no idea why

  • Gta Vice City Stories :)

  • @rafaelmrbean haha im on that now

  • live aid 1985 to africa, worlds greatest ever concert, i was only three and missed it...

  • Gary Numan anybody

  • Is the grass always greener in the garden across the street? Who knows, but it's a great song of the decade! Classic song of the era :-)

  • @peewee19652010 It may be greener but remember, it still has to be cut !,lol.

  • Classic 80s. Nikky boy is still God!

  • Yep the days when people could actually sing and not helped with machines to make their voices sound good,,,today music is manly machine music

80s best times to be a teen Indeedy,,,,

  • i remember listening to this song when i was 6 and living in queensland, every week i use to go to scouts this song would come on <3 they were the gud times the great classic hits.

  • I woke up this morn .and this song was playing in my head

I think music and good songs last forever and this is a message cause who hasnt been what he is singing about Look at the fcking planet this is the craziest shit I have evr seen

Dont you think ?Lets ressurect this song in fact lets do that with a few other tunes what the fck is going on ?

  • @commonthread2 wow thats crazy when i woke up i turned radio on and this was playing

  • Come on people... it's about the message in this song, not the UK vs USA songwriter contest! There's real emotion in this song... and it's so well portrait in it... it's kind of amazing it his the charts at all! (This is were this "contest" topic comes in!)... Seriously, listen to the lyrics... and let it capture you.

  • an apt tune for today's times.

  • Funny, my son, 11 year old, listen to all Nik Kershaw on youtube. Had to tell him I did the same when I was 11 (only.. youtube did not exist - had it on tape instead)

  • We do alright and hold our own in Canada too...Canada rocks...!

  • why does it sound like hes having a peddle , at the start of the song

  • somebody bleached his suit!

  • This is my anthem

  • This song is so true of all of us. We all believe that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Someone else has always got it worse, we need to consider that.

  • I remember this decade and the year and travelling to India on British Airways, this song was played again and again....magic...

  • What a fantastic decade the 80's was..I can never bore of it :D

  • "American popular music had a profound effect on music across the world. The country has seen the rise of popular styles that have had a significant influence on global culture, including ragtime, blues, jazz, swing, rock, R&B, doo wop, gospel, soul, funk, heavy metal, punk, disco, house, techno, salsa, grunge and hip hop. In addition, the American music industry is quite diverse, supporting a number of regional styles such as zydeco, klezmer and slack-key."

  • my absolute favorite song in the 80s ^^

  • While I do love this song and respect the contributions Brits have made to music, I would not say they are the best.

  • EXCELENTE POR DIOS CUANTO RECUERDOS¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • I had a headteacher that used this song to teach us in a school assembly...Imagine them trying to teach with Rihanna song now....

  • If only the suit were not so fragile and uncomfortable....

  • Piosenka która potrafi wzbudzić sentymenty

  • Classic song, excellent example of how the brits are the best musicians, singers, and composers. Our American pop/rock musicians all sound the same today - a dime a dozen. You can't tell one from the other since a couple of producers are writing all of the songs.

  • @evenjen Yeah, because its not the same in britain now?

  • @evenjen

I don't know about singers. I have never heard a British Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand or Michael Jackson. Best Rock bands though are British.

  • @evenjen As far as who have the best grasp of the English language, and therefore the ability to sing it proficiently with much class, the Brits win, hands down. However, don't generalize. You are speaking for the English language, not the whole world so be careful when you say that "the Brits are the best musicians".

  • @evenjen Unfortunately it's the same here in the UK now. Decent pop music has given way to manufactured bands and solo artists. Nobody has any talent anymore. People want to be famous for the sake of being famous. They don't have a message to convey in a song, or a feeling to express in a piece of music . It breaks my heart. 80s kids TV show theme tunes are better pieces of music than the drivel we're fed today.

  • Yea great song of the 80's

Thanks bro' for add this ;)

  • it is def wiki wiki old skool but I love this song...

  • wow ! great '80s flashback!

  • does anyone else hear an annoying beep ? O_o

  • There is no doubt about the brits skil with music back then ........but sorry sorry to say its over boys........thanks to the likes of S A W and the latter pop idol idiots.........

  • love this man - wouldnt it be good hits the right spot in so many ways

  • A classic 80's pop song . Brilliant .

  • 80's music was great, it wasnt about being cool, just having fun.

  • this reminds me of Chuckle vision

  • Really poor 'special effect suit' in comparison to today's stuff. But a really good record nevertheless.

  • @Planetoxo What did you expect? A CGI effect from the 80's? As if there was advance technology back then.

  • remember this 1 .... by sis had a capri 2.8.... fuckin lush...... 80s .. bring it back and nik

  • Does he borrow his clothes from Kenneth Cope?

  • This guy needs a new tailor.

  • I'm sick of fighting, even though I know I should...

  • Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one day

Wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away

Wouldn't it be good to be on your side grass is always greener over there

Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care...

  • You must be joking you don't know a thing about it!

You've got no problems I'd stay right there if I were you

I got it harder you couldn't dream how hard I got it

Stay out of my shoes if you know what's good for you

The heat is stifling burning me up from the inside...

The sweat is coming through each and every pore

I don't wanna be here no more I don't wanna be here no more...

I don't wanna be here no more...

  • It's getting harder just keeping life and soul together

I'm sick of fighting even though I know I should...

The cold is biting through each and every nerve and fibre

My broken spirit is frozen to the core

I don't wanna be here no more...

  • the italians my friend, the italians.. end then the british.

  • @ladybab

i'm from holland, and i totaly agree with that!

  • @ladybab you have something in your genes, you def dominated the 80's

  • @ladybab You couldn't have chose a gayer song to express that opinion. It wouldn't have been gayer even if gay sex was involved.

  • @ladybab It is interesting how Brits seem to nail American culture better than we do sometimes (Batman series, etc.) Granted, we're making it all up as we go.

  • @ladybab Well at least you're good at something. But that's OK lassy, we'll keep protecting you little island. ;) Oh, and you Brits also make a mean bread pudding.

  • @ladybab and another shits as well hahhahahaha

  • the 80s what a decade

bring back the 80s life was so much better back then

  • A fan of Brittish Music for ever, this was on of my favorites and I still LOVE it. Although I never did hear too much from Nick after this . THANKS FOR THIS ONE.
