You have an MRSA infection, not a spider bite. This should have been drained by a physician. If I had seen you in my ER I would have admitted you for IV antibiotics given the massive area of surrounding cellulitis. Your non-sterile drainage is inadequate. You had to

drain it again because you only poked a tiny hole. These have to be lanced with a 1-2 cm incision, then packed to allow for adequate drainage for the next 5-7 days. Without packing the wound heals over and infection remains.

I got a spider bite on my butt in Tasmania. I went to the chemist after a day of soreness and to the doctor as soon as I got home. There was some drainage. So yeah, either you didn't have a doctor or couldn't afford one...but you could've lost your arm and then you'd need a hospital anyway. And I ain't joking around when I say you could've lost it.

if you get bitten by a spider or a snake, even sting by a lion fish you have very few options, you should receive medical treatment but if you refuse then here is a useful tip. in your first aid kit keep a container of papaya based dry meat tenderizer, get it a little wet, spit of water, and apply to bite. the meat tenderizer is destined to break down proteins in meat during cooking. spider and snake bites are protein based so it stops the venom from working. hope this helps in the future.

@nickhanson20 sure glad u recovered. That arm looked scary :o). Another thing u can do is soak it in lukewarm water with a little bit of epsom salts dissolved in it. About 20 minutes each time right after u drain it. That draws out all kinds of nastiness.

When I got a spider bite, I had it drained in the hospital. And they did nothing different that what you did. It was still painful. .The color of the drainage looks tan/brownish. Mine was more white. How long did it take you to clean it? Mine took 4 hours to full clean, and then an additional 3 days of bandage changes before it was all done. Ouch though. I feel your pain.

@sputskee I don't know what I'm doing. Well it healed up perfectly. I called my dr for antibiotics he called in, I wore gloves, sterilized the area with iodine, and worked perfectly. We're not all as dumb as some people. And I'm in Indiana PA, whose local hospital killed a friend of mine for treating bacterial meningitis with Vicodin n sending her home so i was better off myself. And we don't all gave health insurance in this fucked up country and I don't want a bill in this fucked economy... B
