ppl's can you help me? Harkonnen is my favorite house, because their super tanks (devastators) dont attack each other like Atreides (sonic tank) and they're troops aren't weak at all (ordos) the only down sidde is, how do you get the death hamd to hit the building you want it too?

@hapyiskl Unfortunately the Death Hand isn't quite accurate. I've been playing Dune 2000 for years, and it doesn't always hit the target you want. The Atreides Airstrike is far more accurate. I send out an engineer to capture their Primary building to obtain "new construction options" and turn their weapons against them. Each house has advantages.

@CommanderB9488 yes, that is a good point, but, the Death hand cant be destroyed, the Airstrike can, by using the Missile turrets and the missile tanks.

@hapyiskl Nothing a Saboteur and some missile tanks can't fix ;). Soon going to have my WinXP Gateway PC up and running so I can get back in. Windows 7 won't let you play a lot of things and even locks files so you can't edit them.

@CommanderB9488 Touche on the Saboteur, but the Ordos are a very weak house, though ive beat the game with the three houses on hard, i say that the Ordos are the weakest and most expensive House, I like the Harkonnen because all their units are tough and their palace isn't a waist :p

Knowing the Harkonnen's nature, it is very likely that the Commander would make good use of his rise to power and quickly assassinate the Baron... before he does the same to him.

And the mentat? He would likely be smart enough to suggest the best assassination method. The Harkonnen have some qualities... but loyalty is not among them.

It only seems to be launched form a Devastator. It clearly comes from behind and above it (not aligned with the barrel and too small). The "bang" must be from breaking the sound barrier. Or just for the show :).

@TheXeno2000 At the time I was led to believe the Death Hand was launched from that devastator. Later on it was pointed out to me that it was just some unfortunate rendering. I still have my doubts over whether this is a Death Hand missile though. Judging from the minor explosion coming from it, I rather think it's actually an SSM from a launcher on tracks.

The House Harkonnen are my favourite Dune 2000 faction. They have the heaviest tank armor, Devastator tanks, Sardaukar troops (skirmish mode) and the death hand rocket.

The one in the palace is Sardaukar. The guy outside in the sand is a Harkonnen. Look around him and you will see Devastators, which are the heaviest vehicles in the game...deployed only by House Harkonnen.

That's the point. Dune 2k was supposed to be a remake of Dune II. That was stated in the booklet. Yet, they concentrated more on the movie. But still some small details like the design of the helmet of that soldier (identical to the one on the Dune II intro) were kept.

No, but in the final mission it is possible to occupy the emperors palace/ tent with pioneers. After that you can train Sardaukar in your own barracks. Or you play the skirmish mode with house Harkonnen, then you can train Sardaukar troops (without the emperors palace) at a very high tech level 7 in our barracks.

House Corrino wasn't actually a proper faction in-game: they were effectively House Harkonnen, only unable to built Harkonnen Palaces or Devestators, but with pre-placed Imperial Palaces which produced Sardaukar (but which couldn't be built).
