Great video, great choices. Personally, my number one would be the 2004 DVD re-release of The Thing, the one with the swirly face on the cover. It looks like a moldy cinnamon bun or something. Terrible. Why on earth would you replace Drew Struzan's classic poster art?? It's such an iconic image. At least the bluray fixed the problem and went back to the original poster. But still, it should've never been changed in the first place.
"Are they trying to sell this to Twilight fans? They're not going to like it, it's a GOOD horror movie!" You tell 'em, Krueg. I've gone through many ink cartridges on my printer just downloading and printing DVD covers to hide crappy reissues like these.
Just have to mention the April Fool's Day reissue cover. The original had her hair in a noose, toasting her friends at the table, while hiding a knife behind her back. The reissue is just a random noose and a reflection in a knife. It's like they took the Sleepaway Camp box set cover and mashed it with Halloween 5 and said, "Eh, good enough..."
Yeah I'd pretty much agree with all those also. It seems like they always gotta change it especially when they do special editions so people who bought the movie buy it again because it looks all polished and fancy when most fans just want the old school.
Dude... I asked my wife to get the re-release of Last House on the Left... she brought it home with the new cover and I thought she got me the remake. I figured that the remake would have a lame cover like that... I told her she got the wrong one and didn't realize for a couple days that she got me the correct one.
@mbenedict26 Shelly and I were confused when we first saw it too. It doesn't look like the movie at all. That's funny though...Did your wife feel bad?
hahaa I couldn't agree with you more one your pics! Especially that horrible horrible horrible Trick or Treat DvD Cover! ha I had to print out a cover from the VHS cover art to replace it with! =)..Later on Man !!
lol Gotta agree with most of those. I can't stand most of the House On Sorority Row covers. The 20th Anniversary Edition is probably the worst. Makes the movie look like something you'd find in the adult section at the video store.
@WelcomeToGrindhouse I just bought Graduation Day recently actually and really enjoyed it. Any slasher flick with Linnea Quigley and Vanna White is cool in my book!
@KruegerNation Thanks a heap! I just saw that documentary Going To Pieces and they had a clip from it of the jogger getting chased and it made it seem worth watching.
Also, and sorry if this has been mentioned already, but you should to a video on your top ten favorite horror covers. I think that'd be pretty cool. Anyways thanks again and take care
Nice list. I think the 2nd "Texas Chainsaw 2" cover was definitely trying to emulate the "Saw" look. Personally, I think the cover art for TCM: The Next Generation is far worse. But for me, #1 would have to be a 100-way tie between all of the horrible DVD covers that exist for the original "Night of the Living Dead"

I would've voted Day of the Dead 2008 with that really bad photoshop work including the eyeball. The worst dvd cover I've ever seen period.
