True, but they both have a couple issues that we'll have to settle between.

Bob Barr has an unfortunate record in Congress as a big drug warrior-- a position greatly at odds with core libertarian philosophy.

Chuck Baldwin's platform is virtually identical to Ron Paul's (making me lean towards him) but he is a STRONG social conservative, which could be isolating to less religious or non religious voters. Interesting fact: Baldwin endorsed Ron Paul about a year ago.

Well, Barr also only voted for the Patriot Act so he could add the the sunset clauses making the patriot act temporary. however, after parts of it expired in march of 2006 (b/c of Barr's sunset clauses), congress voted to extend it. Barr now supports ending marijuana prohibition and the war on drugs. its a shame people dont believe a person is capable of changing. i used to be a democrat but ron paul woke my ass up! so im not allowed to change positions on things either? its ridiculous.

trust me, as a marijuana user myself for 9 years, im not happy about his past voting record either.

im aware of chuck baldwin, his positions, and his support of ron paul. i dislike him for the same reasons you bring up...he's a srong social conservative. i support gay rights and i am pro-choice. i dont like the Constitution Party's theocratic platform either as i am by no means religous.

i'm sure you probably heard this already but Ron Paul has endorsed Chuck Baldwin. maybe that will help make your decision a little easier, lol. baldwin and barr being so similar really makes it hard to decide who to vote for, and now with ron paul's endorsement, i'm in a difficult position. i wish one of them would just drop out and support the other or something. i have no problem voting for whoever has the better chance when it comes to barr and baldwin.

I actually just heard of the endorsement and thought that it would end my indecision for good. Unfortunately, after looking at the Christian dominion platform of the Constitution party, I am back on the fence. This is upsetting because they are dead-on in some fundamental issues, such as national sovereignty, non-interventionism and the Federal Reserve. It seems that the more information I gather, the farther away I get from a decision. I do plan on actually voting though, so I must persevere.

yeah, i originally supported Baldwin and then i decided i liked Barr better mostly because of the Constitution Party platform, and because Baldwin used to be a Pastor. but like you said, they are also dead-on in some issues. it's really a difficult decision.

however, my decision has just been made easier...baldwin is not on the new york state ballot, so i will be voting for barr! well, i know who i'm voting for...good luck figuring it out, LOL.  keep in touch if i can be of any help. peace.

I voted for Barr as well. Frankly, the Constitution Party just muddied the issue. They were trying to appeal the religious right which is the reason why the GOP became so radical and extremist on social issues in the first place. Keep it simple. Libertarian Party for freedom-loving Americans who want lower taxes and less government intrusion in our lives. Maybe Jesse Ventura will run in 2012?

It is true.. the only problem Ron Paul has in his philosophy (yes there is a problem) is that he is far too much of a Friedman "Free Market" believer to understand that you need some regulations in place by an informed people (laws if you will) basic laws.
