Neither Alice nor the other ladies should smile nor laugh about what happened between Shane and Jenny because of what Jenny did, the humiliation she did to Nikki and the blind eye she has put on Shane when she hid the letter from Molly away in the attic and keeping quiet about it and made Shane forget about Molly and not being able to reconcile with her and Shane not knowing nor being aware about it. It was not a good and fair ending at all, The L Word is not enough. Shane reconciling with Molly, and if Jenny was still alive, Nikki could have won

But instead it ended in a tragedy, and many blame Ilene Chaiken for writing the story that way, she did not make the story of The L Word fair, ending without a resolution.

Shane and Jenny are not meant for each other and they are not perfect for each other. It was a huge mistake for Jenny to break up with Nikki and be madly in love with her best friend and roommate Shane. Shane was not the right girl for Jenny, in fact she was not the perfect partner for her at all.
