Oh didn't know you were putting in a new water feature? Your chooks got their rubber boots and floaties on?
We in South Aus got a lot of rain in one hit too but by the looks of it, nothing like what you got. At least this should soak down deep into the earth and give some of those bigger trees something to drink up.. They wouldn't have had a good deep drink for a LONG time.
Now that''s just plain greedy Christian! - We are dying for some rain over here in Perth (we've had none our way- maybe 4 days the whole winter). I can see where it's all been going!!!
At least it gives you an idea of where to put swales in for next year. :)
The very first of our spring season here we got a rain similar to that. It took out all of my onions and smashed my corn stalks. My squash plants died about a week later.
Interesting amount of water. We had similar rain last month in germany, more than 200 mm per qm. Maybe some swales at the right position could make the water useful for you.
Are you alright?? Did the chickens make it through, did you have to build them a little escape raft?? Glad alot of the veggies were in those raised beds, hope they drained off all that excess. Get some rest and get better.....How is Queenie?
What a nightmare for you ! from dry to this ! Hopefully once the rain stops the excess water will run off and allow the land to recover. Best of luck ! Hang in there !
this is something familiar...happened here as welll..the river overflooded into my garden....the herbs like parsley and cilantro grow incredibly well after such soaking...it will pass....hope all's well!!...
Where abouts in Australia are you? I'm in Adelaide and we've had an unbelievable amount of rain this week. So much flooding! Good for gardens and the reservoirs.
Hope the is no major damage. Here is my unsolicited suggestion - Take off your clothes and go have some fun splashing in the puddles. Let the inner child out. Then after you have laughed and giggled like a child you can go back to doing the adult stuff of accessing any damage.

On the good side of this, hopefully it filled up the pond you have in the back of your property? But wow that's some serious rain!

Gosh, I can only compare that to the vid you posted ages ago about the dried-up dam you had. Hope it doesn't get any worse with the floods!
