  • Steve - What do you do with the Koi in the winter? Do you have tanks inside?

  • @RockinFunTower Hia Matey :)

No the pond is heated it runs at 16 degrees during the winter i have it setup on a 30,000btu heat exchanger and a thermostadt it runs of my office central heating system on the hot water side so it thinks im heating up the hot water for a bath. :) It cost a few pounds a week to run even when it 15 below. (it does look good in the winter) with steam pouring off of it. So for the fish its always summer time :)

  • Hey this is awesome. Are you not concerned that the duck poo will make the Koi's water quality much lower ???

  • @milzeh Hi again :) Na the pond is 1700 gallons i built one of the filters and it will filter the water at the rate of over 10 gallons a minute. the other filter i picked up second hand will filter 20 gallons a minute so add 20 to 10 =30 gallons a minute multiply that by 60 and the filters are filtering the pond at a rate of at least 1800 gallons an hour.so in other words the water is replaced at the very least on the hour every hour.So no effect to the fish or the water. :)

  • dem fishes is big ;)

  • @penelious They sure are ponds in good health so the fish are good as well :)

Heated in the winter as well so they grow all the year round :)

  • Thanks for the nice comments The koi yes they are rather large they dont mind the ducks but dont like them eating there food as you can see so i tend to feed them when the ducks have gone in for the night. :)

  • Those koi are huge! :) And your ducks are lovely.
