  • I have never seen a man more handsome than deen reed

  • many thx for posting

come on friends !! let's separate the artist from the person, as an artist he was great , superb hits,,,as a person greater ... no for the political position but for the human values.. he criticized his own country for many crimes they committed all over the world, crimes that were completely unknown in the very US at that time. but let´s go to the songs... unequalable hits and wonderful memories.. I remember parties and malones in my country Chile

  • beautiful beautiful hair.

  • Dean Reed RIP

  • Jděte s nim do prdele. Byl to zakomplexovanej fracek , kterej uměl velmi slušně zpívat.

  • Great tune.

  • künstler in die produktion!

  • feliz

  • AH dean reed; a great happening to mankind.

Was wäre die Welt ohne Idealisten?

  • granburritocachencho..hermosa cancion.

  • I don't think money ever played a significant role for him - how rich could a person be in the Soviet Block?Stardom was perhaps his dream, but I think this goes for most artists.

  • In mu opinion he had mistaken but frank political convictions which he defended in 60 Minutes. And the fact that he criticized the 'state' USA does not mean he ceased to love the 'motherland' USA.

  • @Straccio He should have tried to criticize the USSR while he had been living behind the iron curtain. Fuck Russia!

  • @HerrrOttoFlick How silly of you))

  • @Straccio Ask Hanoi Jane! Former wife of Communist News Network owner Turner.

  • @hemming57 he did this because the song is from 1959

  • @TheMoskwitsch There was some talk a few years ago about making a movie about Dean's life. Haven't heard anything further. I think it would be an interesting story.

  • @hemming57 He just cant sing.

  • "Red" Reed:D

  • Interesting.. I just came across this guy in a trivia book I got for Xmas. I always thought rock and roll had been banned by the communists!

  • I was,,,unless sung by a commie stooge.

  • Basically, Reed was the left-wing Pat Boone (a singer of similar style and talent who is active on the political and religious right in the US)... I think more Americans should learn Reed's story, not because he is necessarily admirable, but because it's a very interesting story.

  • we loved Dean in Soviet Union.

He was a good brave man, good singer and actor.

  • Then why did he die under mysterious circumstances in East Berlin?

    ht tp : / / einestages. spiegel. de / static/topicalbumbackground / 1369 / der_elvis_des_ostblocks. ht ml

Macht echt süchtig.DANKE DEAN DU WARST GROSSATIG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he was very handsome!!!

  • Tolles Lied.

  • He was weird, a country-rock star unknown in America, and extremely popular in the USSR and south america. Even though I don't like commies I'll admit that at least he lived according his ideas. Also in Mexico Reed is unknown unlike the most of the rockstars

  • yes, thats why he wents to the easteuropean area there he could play the no.1,because the "berlin WALL" secured him from the real stars!

  • schon wieder diese kreuzberger tunte

  • Dean Reed was a real star with Berlin Wall and without it. Nobody can forse people like or dislike someones music. He was a great singer, very good actor and he was real, not like most American "stars". Maybe Elvis is a big star in America, but I never liked him. He was womanizer, drugg addected and many more what Dean Reed wasn't. Dean reed was a real bright star a real person who cared. Maybe he was mistaken in something, but like someone said he lived according his ideas.

  • He was unpopular in US because he lived in USSR most of the time. It was not exactly the dumb-head capitalist model that now cry to the government to give them billions of dollar just to don't get unemployment.

  • Actually he lived in East Germany from 1972 till his death in 1986.He made regular visits to the Soviet Union but he never lived there.

  • @greendark He was unpopular in the US because he couldn't sing. And he's got no voice and no good pronunciation.

  • @vladmanov His, is an interesting story. I hope they do make a movie about him someday.

  • Thank you, Comrade Dean! You re always in my heart!

  • Szuper!!!!!!! Köszönöm szépen!!!!!

  • alexa, get off your high horse and READ what I wrote. What I wrote was simply a factual statement, as outlined in Reggie Nadelson's Dean Reed biography, COMRADE ROCKSTAR. Not my own opinion. It's also a fact that most American don't even know Reed, nor would they care to after learning of his politics. U.S. streets aren't any more violent than many others, drugs and money destroy lots of people everywhere. Alexa, if you're anti-American, that's YOUR problem.

  • PART II

The fact that I grew up with a taste for his music, as well as that of other great american artists from the 60's like RONNIE SAVOY and STEVE LAWRENCE, makes it clear politics cannot or shouldn't stain an artist's talent and art. I only found out about his political side as an adult and was surprised to learn about his death.

I continue enjoying his music and I wouldn't say politics has ever made think of what I should listen or not.

  • PART I

This sure was a great hit here and the first song I ever heard by DR when I was about 3 years old and my older sister would play his 45 rpm singles !

B-side I AIN'T GOT YOU is even better, to me, and was / and still is played here by oldies stations.

His records here were, strangely enough, pressed by 2 different record companies: ODEON (today EMI), and Philips. The later pressed DR's records on POLYDOR and PHILIPS.

  • I liked this song, I really don't know anything about his politics,

  • This guy did an interview on "60 Minutes"---a popular national US news show---in 1985. He spoke in favor of the Berlin Wall and the Soviets in Afghanistan. He was swamped with hate mail from the US. As talented as he may have been, he'll always be seen as a turncoat in America.

  • He was a sellout! He sold his country out for supporting a godless political system!

  • Is he doing an older song? This seems pretty '50's and quaint for 1970.

  • Dean Reed's song "Our Summer Romance" was first released by "Capitol Records" in 1959 in the USA and became a hit in South America, especially in Chile where Dean Reed gave many concerts in the 1960s.This video is an extract from a 1970 TV programme made in the Soviet Union.Since the song was one of his famous ones and was still unfamiliar for the Russians,Dean Reed sang it in the programme."Our Summer Romance" is actually the song which made him famous and is still considered one of his best.

  • Why forget politics? That only makes him a more fantastic figure. He abandoned the fame and wealth and power he could have had in America for helping what he thought was a just political mission by singing for audiences in the Soviet Union and German Democratic Republic. Even if they didn't last, he died not knowing that.

  • Forget politics. He still one of the best!
