That episode, as I remember it, was a big change for the character of Kramer. In the first two seasons, Michael Richards acted like Kramer was dumber than the others, and I think it's starting to that episode that he acted as if Kramer thought he were brighter than the other characters, so he could give them lessons,like: "you need help, Jerry!"
