  • Too bad it can't go all the way up to White Plains!

  • Trains

  • I like how people were recording the train as it came in I love train!

  • sounds lovely to me,like an electric train ought to.

  • @AG3304 YES!!! That's the way I remember.

  • @JohnnyT002 The way they should be,no AC three-phase and whining solid state converters!

  • Were all the motors running? They sound like they're straining.

  • Standard Mainline Lo-V's (excluding the flivvers were built in 1916-17. 1922, 1924, and 1925.

  • I used to travel on this line when it was known as the "dinky" and it had only two cars. I went to 180th St. from Gun Hill Rd. and transferred to the White plains Rd. line to 219th St. to go to Jr. H.S. This was well before the Dyre Flyover was built in 1957/58. Great video!

  • Wow that was great. I lived in the Bronx in the early 70s and always rode the #2 train and only rode the #5 once north of 180th street. I did not know (or remember) the #5 going into a tunnel! So cool seeing that. I assumed that, like the #2, it ran above ground all the way to the north Bronx. Thanks so much for stirring up some wonderful memories for me as well as a neat surprise.

  • You caught me and some of my friends @ Easchester-Dyre Avenue station....excellent vid!

  • love it
