Nice. I got the 98 Lumina LTZ n was thinking instead of putting an aftermarket supercharger i'd just find a 3800 supercharged from a monte carlo. Will it fit or will i have to mess with the mounts?
@ObsessiveFish - It will fit. Since you have an LTZ the wiring will be easier. Its a direct swap. That's what I did. My engine came from an L67 powered vehicle and I just stuck it in my Lumina, lol.
To all the people asking: PCM wise for any vehicle you need the one that came with the engine preferably, if that is not possible, order one from DHP (Digital Horsepower) or go to LKQ or a salvage an yank the PCM from any L67 powered vehicle and send it to Ed Wright Automotive for tuning specific to the engine components you want and the car it will be in... Usually a stock PCM will do just fine though until you start heavily modding your car... PM me for more info on mounts and PCM etc. :)
93 grand am gt. Swapping the 3.3 to the 3.8 supercharged. Any thoughts??? Im trying to find out if its been done with my year group before??? And if so, what problems they had??
Dude, that supercharger wine is LOUD! Do you have any mods to the L67 or is it just stock? Probably have a cold air intake. Did you stick with the stock 3.8" pulley or drop a few sizes?
@tblake86 - At the time I recorded this I believe I had just a short ram intake, and was running a stock pulley. It's been changed quite a bit since then...
It might, as long as the mounts are the same and the bulkhead for the PCM matches that of a 97-03 grand prix or 97-99 Lumina LTZ I dont see why not...
The l67 was available in w-body impalas in 2004 and also in 2005. Same thing with the Monte Carlo. Regal GS and Grand Prix GTPs had l67 from 1997 until 2004.
You just gotta love the classic sound of the 3800's! Very nice job on the Lumina btw, i got a 95 olds 88 with a 3800 N/A, 92,000 miles and it still runs like a champ!
dude thats awesome...i used to have a 96 lumina w/ a 3100... and now i have a 2000 GTP....but i would love to have that lumina w/ my GTP motor in it cause they are actually lighter than a grand prix to begin with.
will the 3.8 L67 fit in a 01 lumina with the 3.1 or will i need new mounts
