  • "Peace Through Understanding: was the motto of the '64 World's Fair. You two animals brought that idea back to the stone age some 47 years later!

  • YOU ADMIT to being RUDE and CRUDE,you left out lacking maturity and stupidity.See above all who read this, also see that you were wrong, and now,you just get fresh you punk.See YOU CAN"T conceive of me being right, because then you MUST REALIZE that YOU ARE A ZERO.I'll back mine up,YOU just tell me where OK ?Give me an address, somewhere to mail YOU,copies of my work, and a photo of what YOU dare to talk to ,child they will be verified in any manner that you want OK,First, wanna bet? how about $500. ?

  • I passed by the Unisphere Friday night.

  • cool

  • what a liar that guy was ......this fair was not sanctioned by the world exposition committee. The only thing that made it a worlds fair was the fact that new york called it one.

  • @RobNLynchburgVA Tell that to the 50 other countries that participated.

  • complete boondoggle. central park still is,and will always be top park in nyc. the notion of striving for utopia through technology, without humanity and eco-systems taking precedence will always be a dissaster. then again, what can you expect from robert moses, someone who wanted to build a gas gussling highway, through everyone's backyard.

  • @brainsareus I grew up 3 blocks from MMOA, rode my bike daily 1960,thru,and around the park. His "hype" of future tense fame, was his "hustle" his "game".Also the highway was NOT thru "Every bodies" back yard. And he did not make the "Gas Guzzling" autos ether.I am NOT in any way defending this man,as I am correcting your bullsh!t.But most importantly if you had EVER BEEN to NYC ,you would see how foolish your,"gas guzzling"statement is.NYC is ALL streets and highways, one more?No big thing!

  • one thing i can say about this little documentary is there showing the bitter and the sweet(strife, civil rights march, war.pomp glitz, etc.)

  • I was 5 yrs old when we went there. I actually remember those little moon buggies. Not much else though.

  • PRESIDENT KENNEDY WAS SUPPOSED TO MKE THAT SPEECH THAT THAT RAT LYNDON JOHNSON LATER MADE. I LIVED ON LONG ISLAND and we used to drive by their fair site in the 1970s

  • Yay 1964! My birth year.

  • They tore down the 1939 Aquacade not long ago because Boro President Clair Shulman did not want it ..They should have tore her down ..old bag.

  • the park has been totally restored ....

  • Not quite. I was there in January '08 and the Unisphere is really the only thing standing. The theatre and towers are in disrepair.

  • There letting it deteroiate so they can then

develop it. The fix is in, and we the public

lose, like we always do. But the same crooks

don't ever have to worry, they got themselves

    a lifetime job.

  • looks nice on the website for park... a group has been fighting/pleading with NYC for funds to preserve the park. In the disgusting period of the 1970's the park was a wreck, like much of the city. Liberals like Moyers can be blamed for the decay there and elsewhere in the US...Fortunately, NYC is being restored...

  • "Liberals like Moyers can be blamed for the decay there and elsewhere in the US"

Or maybe we can lay the blame on the "White Flight", when middle-class people were flocking to the suburbs. C'mon dude, the whole Red/Blue dichotomy is sooooo 2004.

  • White Flight sadly was the single biggest problem that affected the cities, but the fact is that crime, graffiti, bad students, and noise etc were tolerated (I had a 4th grade teacher praising the "art" that is graffiti!), and drove the middle class to the awful suburbs. Many cities are making a comeback, but unfortunately today only the upper middle class & wealthy can afford the lifestyle. My folks stayed in NYC throughout the bad years, and we have the muggings to prove it!

  • @318odyssey -punks are punks it;s history.NO body EVER mugged me,born 1946,Manhattan,left there in 1971 for world travel.White flight got rid of the low lifes,crime is universal,noise is a city,dum dum,Bad /stupid students,come from bad/stupid families.All of your years are probably "bad" years.I Had NO bad years there,guess it's the way I live.NYC was always great,Iived 3 blocks from MOMA,on 5th Ave.Went daily,met really nice people there.

  • One, learn to use proper grammar. I'm guessing they didn't teach you how to type in the good ol' days. Two, if you are trying to tell me there were no muggings in New York in the 60's, then you are delusional. Now, do us all a favor and go back to your retirement home.

  • @Gmancrap -Hey Stupid,Learn to comprehend,I said NOTHING about NO MUGGINGS in NYC in the 60's Mr.Moron.I said"Nobody ever mugged me."Also Dope, proper use of grammar, and typing have "NOTHING" to do with each other, fool. One can do either well or not.As to a retirement home,I live on MAUI,sail on my boat, paint and sell my artwork,I also write, have awards, and do films.I'm quite muscular,Stallone is my age, look at him, only I'm 5'5''.Jerk no talk, what have YOU done besides grow a fresh mouth ?Punk.

  • Shut the fuck up you old, undereducated, moron. You probably live in a nursing home and receive daily beatings for making a fuss about not wanting to change your diaper. If you're such a great big artist/boat operator/film maker/ body building/football star/president where are your recognitions? I never heard of you "Billy". You delusional idiot. The state should do you a favor and put your day dreaming ass out of your misery. Fuck, I would do that for you if you're implying you want to fight.

  • We were reading each others minds here! I was getting ready to post JUST what you said.

  • i hear there are still plans to renovate, but not yet.

i visited last week, and it is still decaying, which to me, is kind of beautiful in a way.

  • It's not like the park isn't being utilized. It is always full of people.

  • @csillag4 I'm one of 'em

  • And the fair still has that fully-functioning UFO lander.

  • @csillag4 a ha! you make a great point.

  • The documentary was made in 1995 and was shown on PBS. DVD's and video's of it circulate from time to time.

  • When was the documentary made and can you put the rest of it on youtube, please?

  • i wonder if bush or trump would like 2 see this in thier life time. cause they aint seen nothing yet-- bars aka atticus --dblock

  • A wonderful slice of this documentary.

What a pity, though, that what Moses envisioned was never fully to be. I keep hoping, someday, that the NY state pavillion will be saved, and that the fair and it's vision, will be given the lasting respect it deserves.

  • hey ....anyone else notice the word "f*ckin'" graffiti spray painted on the front of the NYWF Amphitheater at 6:40? GO PBS!

  • OMG! As clear as day!

  • lol
