I live in Northwest Georgia and I am ashamed to say that many people are still proud of the confederacy. There are still many confederate flags hanging off of porches and racism is alive and well. I have argued against my peers from a progressive stand point, but they are to blinded by their prejudice to see reason. The GA Republican Party is racing to make Georgia more like Mississippi with each passing year. The 2010 Republican Gubernatorial Primary is shaping up to be the most ignorant race in modern US history. A recent poll showed that 1/3 of Georgia Republicans would favor secession from the Union. It seems like Republicans in Georgia want to party like it's 1832 or worse yet 1861. I hate to break it to yall, but getting your ass handed to you at the polls doesn't qualify as tyranny.

The States Rights arguments they are making are similar in philosophy to the arguments that were shot down in 1832, 1865 and 1964. It didn't work then and it won't work now.
