  • looks like i'm trading in my diesel.

  • I swear a heard a soundbarrier break even though nothing was physically going that fast

  • It does not look fast, perhaps bad camera perspective...

  • what's the hp to weight ratio, the batteries must weight a ton.

  • First stage light (YAwNNNN) second stage light YAWNNNN ZZZZ ZZZ full amber ZZ ZZZ ZZ ZZZ ZZZ ZZZ OH SHIT GREEN whack the button Nice run tho

  • looks like a jet bike from star wars or something, lol

  • I would like to use maxwell boostcaps (ultra-capacitors) instead of the a123 cells because they can discharge at 17500 watts per kg . if you grouped 175 lbs of boostcaps together it could dump 1.4 million watts of power which is 4.6 times more energy then the killacycle (at 300 000 watts)

  • @TheSolarmike what about the non-linear voltage drop during discharge? Although, I suppose for the drag strip that wouldn't matter much. ^_^

  • Man, battery technology is evolving fast...

  • Doesn't matter if he slept at the light, just trying to get a great ET. In reality, he could sit for 10 seconds if he wanted to and the timers would still show a correct ET. The timers do not start until you break the beam ie move from the starting line. Now it would make a huge difference if he was racing another competitor heads up.

  • @1969canon I think he already that...

  • @pinoyfourlyf HUH?

  • @1969canon I think he already knew that.

  • i think he left all his organs at the line

  • how many rpms do the motors turn?

  • I say Scotty rides the gas powered rigs just to stay sharp for KillaCycle!

  • 900 A123 cells at $9 each! Jeeez!

  • I've watched this video so many times. I'm a nut for this stuff, take my word, within the next few years there are going to be things happening in the EV world that will be blowing everyone's minds. I love it.

    Yes, yes, Fuckin A!

  • love the guy in the background at the end:

    Yeah! Yeah! Fuckin' A!"

    priceless

  • DAMN!! and he was sleeping at the light...

  • He wasn't sleeping at the light, you just can't cut a good light with this bike!

  • HE just did

  • damn straight!

  • GREEN WHIILS!

  • OMFG!!! lol

  • GOOD....... GOD!!!!

Talk about peeling your lips behind your ears!

  • feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • Looks like a motorcycle going into hyperspace.

  • YES! YES! FUCKIN' A!!!

    haha that guy is hilarious

  • I need one of these

  • Awesome machine; however, don't expect to see these on the street anytime soon.

  • fuck yeah, listen to that tire ripping the pavement when he launches thats some crazy ass shit right there

  • "YES! YES! FUCKIN' A!!!!" :)

  • Just wait till GM get a hold of it . . . it'll go even faster!!! . . . straight into the fucking crushing machine.

  • Why would Bill Dube' give it to GM? They've already proven they're idiots when it comes to Electric. Bill's smarter than that. ;)

  • Except when he is crashing it into the side of minivans.

  • oh sure, everyone has a dumb moment from time to time :) I already got onto him about that after it happened, so I'll just leave it at that. ;)

  • What an awesome machine.

Till i have something practical like that, 6.8 litres will do me.

  • It sucks that it isn't all loud and smokey, but thats just what we have been conditioned to expect from a powerful motor.

Consider this: Every bit of sound that a motor produces is wasted energy :)

  • I don't think it "sucks".

I've gotten used to ( "reprogrammed" if you will ) lots of different motor sounds through my years at motorsport(s).

Including extremely high-tuned two-stroke racing bikes, extremely high-revving mc four-strokes, Turbo-charged car motors,

and obviously open exhaust V-8 drag racing machines.

I'm honestly fed up with the noice.

I once got a thrill out of it, as I knew it "represented" power.

Now I just want the Power !

( without the toxic fumes and the noice )

  • Hotdamn kickass! Electric baby, all the way!

  • farken hell!

  • why ARE people so obsessed with gasoline engines.?.. why do people care about the sound that a vehicle makes?

i will tell you now. there is nothing macho about a vehicle.

    people are scared of futurecool.

  • Top work to the Killacycle team! I hope this lead to more electric drag racing and better electric street bikes.

  • Congrats, thats a huge accomplishment. EVs are the wave of the future and love seeing them perform. Keep it up.

  • HELP!!!

I'm italian....in italy most people think...the gasoline motor are the best...and dont' worry of the futur...electric is for crasy people...help..italy shi* people..just ferrari, maserati, ducati, aprilia!! We are going down in all sector!!! help!!

  • I can't help but read this comment with an italian accent in my head. Good stuff.

  • I have to say doing 60mph on a paved road, with no engine noise is an experience most would love. It is hard to describe, very peaceful, but still exciting.

Congrats Bill on the 7 second pass, that is absolutely amazing.

  • HOLY CRAP LIONS!

  • all this talk about no nice engine sound.. i drive brushless R/C cars etc..

i really like the sound.. it's super nice i enjoy this sound as much as a nice V8 or V12...

it's not the sound thats nice it's your memories and what's imprinted in your brain whats cool..

  • I agree, the sound is cool...Nothing but tires and gears. It's different, but still cool in it's own way. I'd like to see a vid without all the extra background noise.

  • I think I just saw the future. Simply amazing...

  • and to think these are all home made components, tinkered together by guys in their garage... you're witnessing the exact same thing that happened with Apple computers... the big boys didn't get it, dragged their feet... and now this... as the batteries, the controllers, the motors, the capacitors, get better and better... combustion will just fade away... the resources are finally coming on board, investors have read the writing on the wall.

  • there are rapid chargers... or you can just swap batteries like you do in your flash light. all dragsters are designed to blow their wad in a matter of seconds... the innovations you make at the track, lead to street legal applications... kind of like going to the moon and back.

  • Actually if the batteries are completely dead it could take an hour to fully charge, but once charged they can make approximately 7+ runs down the drag strip or approximately 150 street miles. After 3 or 4 passes at the strip recharging only takes about 10 minutes. The A123 Systems batteries are amazing!!!

  • >>"JRZRacing"

Yes you are wrong, big time !

That bike has enough juice in it's batteries to do some six to eight runs WITHOUT recharge !

And if you educate yourself you'll find there are now batteries that can be charged as fast as five minutes. Only the smarter - as well as simpler - way would be to just swap battery pack: that should be even fadter than you could fill up your gasoline guzzler !

We've had enough war over oil !!

Arabs are rich enough, by now !!!

    Let's go EV !!!!

  • Yes, I was indeed very wrong.

I saw this machine on some discovery channel show and saw how they don't need to recharge between runs.

    So yes, let's go EV.

  • However I still think the inventor is dumb for doing that failed burnout and crashing it. (with no helmet) He could have easily killed himself or someone else.

  • Agree !

Man, that must have been "humiliating to the bone" =)

Ti-hi... can't help laugh a bit about it...

Soo stupid ! ( Well if you don't have anything

worth protecting above the shoulders, you don't have to "obstruct your freedom" w silly things like a helmet... )

    Cheers !

And Cred to a Man w guts to stand up for his mistake !

  • Rep! Couldn't have said it better.

  • did he cussed at the end?

  • Sweet, welcome to the future of transport. Cars will automatically charge when parked in the garage, no oil changes/coolant etc required, no air filters/fuel filters/oil filters that need changing...... less servicing.... Cant wait!!

  • HOLY SHIT

  • That ought to shut the petrol gear heads up in a hurry. Absolutely brilliant run.

  • Awesome...congratulations to the team.. a piece of history.

  • YES! YES! FCUK YES!!! ...LOL

  • the 'electric atom' is also a killer electric car, blows away porshe's and ferrari's easily on the quarter mile!

  • that's just insane

  • Goodbye inefficient, inferior gasoline technology. Welcome to the future :) .

  • future does look interesting from this viewpoint, just need to wait for it to be implemented into cars sooner than later.. LOL at the thought of ppl pluggin in their cars/bike illegally i.e. work, etc..

  • Goodbye inefficient, inferior gasoline technology. Welcome to the future.

  • sounds like a blender

  • Will it blend?

  • That rumble is the background noise of other motorcycles. If you listen when he smoked the tires then you would realize its electric. If it were gas it would have roared like a beat on steroids.

  • Wow i like how there is like no one in the stands!!

  • If this bike is all electric, why does it still rumble like a gas powered engine? And where the heck is the crowd?

  • could be background noise from the harleys.

  • it's background Hardly Ableson noise.

one of those can't-go/can't-stop/can't-turn two-wheeled agricultural implements was running within mike range.

  • Hahahahaha !!!! =D !

    " ... can't-go/can't-stop/can't-turn two-wheeled agricultural implements... "

Thanks for that one !

  • Many events like this are just for the owners to test to see what their creations can do. They don't all have crowds. Some people actually like to test these machines and don't care if anyone sees them.

  • You are looking at one bleacher section. Most tracks have bleachers on both sides of the track,my guess the full stands are on the right.

  • Superior technology.

  • Imagine if all drag racing was electric, it would be so quiet. Freaky!

  • Respect for this project... Can't wait to get my hands on one of those...

  • wow... this is f***ing fast! Good job guys
